AIBU?

To think that someone is trying to recruit my partner as a spy

In the last 2 weeks, my boyfriend has received 4 parcels from Amazon that he didn't order. Addressed to him, at our house, but not showing on his order history. On calling Amazon, they are adamant that someone has sent them to him as a gift, and has paid for all four items using a gift card.

Parcel one... a strange wire.
Parcel two.. another strange wire.
Parcel three... a Bluetooth earpiece (do people still use these?!)
Parcel four which arrived today.. A baseball cap with a hidden spy camera! WTF!

We have NO idea who would send these. AIBU to think he is being recruited as a spy, with his mission brief to follow?! Grin Or is there a reasonable explanation for this?

Is this the kind of prank his friends would pull? Sounds interesting though.

How intriguing! The next delivery has to be black trousers, a black polo neck and a balaclava.

Sounds like the set up for a stag party or something similar. Has he got anything like that coming up?

Yes it's real, I promise. Here's the hat which came today. We looked it up and it's £55 on Amazon - not sure any of his friends would spend that much on a prank, and if it is a prank then I'm not sure what the relevance of the wires are...

Has anyone else had parcels from Amazon, addressed to them, which they didn't order?!

It's a bit scary that people actually order this stuff! Confused

Is there no message in the invoice?

I've had some.
They changed the rules a while back for giving away free stuff to get reviews on amazon. I think some still send out as a gift and hope the person leaves a review. I left a review and crossed my fingers for more stuff!

I got a knockoff version of a Fitbit type thing once that I hadn't ordered. Phoned up and was told by Amazon staff there was no info about who ordered it. V odd.

Is he a drinker? I have had a few parcels ordered after a bottle of red and denied all knowledge of ordering. Blush

I had a pack of top trumps sent to me. But this was probably a mix up as I had actually ordered something

A good friend of mine received a number of Amazon parcels in a row that she hadn't ordered. Turned out it was a friend who had sent her an Amazon gift once and had her name and address listed on their Amazon account - they just forgot to click on their own address when next ordering from Amazon.
