AIBU?

To think this was the most pathetically stupid thing ever

Went to a supermarket cafe with 2yo DC, both our meals came after a silly long wait and mine was grim and stone cold so I asked for a refund (they offered me a choice of replacement or refund but it had taken so long to begin with and DC was tucking into hers at that point so refund was easier)
She has finished and was eating her fruit bag so I picked at a couple of chips that she hadn't eaten...she hadn't eaten a huge amount anyway! When the manager came barrelling over and whisked the plate from me to infront of her and told me "that meal is for age 10 and under not for adults" I said "she's finished her meal and mine was inedible" so he then said he would have to ask me to leave if I was going to eat another chip and did I want to be embarrassed infront of everyone...so we left anyway

So now a half plate of food has been wasted over 3 fucking chips

Fucking insania

Write to the head office, that's whackadoodle territory!

There was a twat in that situation, and it wasn't the person who posted about it here!

Absolutely pathetic. You need to complain

Shock

I assume this was not Waitrose?

Yep. That's proper bat shit. Maybe he had the hump over having to refund. Shouldn't have taken it out on you though. It's very bad customer service.

Sounds like the manager had a chip on his shoulder! (Sorry)

He was a twat, not you.

What on earth! Complain!!

Um, what? I'd be going all over social media with this one. The meal was for your child. You had paid for it, therefore it belonged to you. What he did was theft.

Blimey! Over the top reaction from the manager. I don't know why but I'm guessing Morrisons!

Oh x post!

Twat on a power trip. I'd be putting that one on their social media and I'm not one to go right to Facebook shaming.

That's stupid. Why under 10? My granny likes eating in places that do small portions, a lot of older people do. A very kind interpretation is that the manager is under a very great deal of stress. Complain.

Report
streetface · 14/09/2017 12:12

Agree with PP that is theft. You paid for it, it was yours. Big fat letter to HO I reckon!

Ah, was it that offer where kids eat free with a paid adult meal? So she got the hump that you had a free kids meal basically? The manager is a moron.

Definitely complain. He is absolutely mental.

ARRRRGH this infuriates me! Why are people so much of a push over???

Sorry OP, but seriously, you let him treat and speak to you like that? Really? You didnt think to stop off at Customer Services on the way out and speak to them about it? Or the General Manager? You just left?

Seriously?

I paid for both meals (the free kids meal starts at 3pm!) but apparently this wasn't good enough!!

I'm glad I'm not going mental! I ranted mentioned it to a friend who said "well it was for under 10s" Hmm

Definitely complain. That man was clearly being ridicuolus. He wanted you not to eat something you had paid for? I'd have said very loudly that you had paid for the meal which was rubbish but if you wanted to eat it, you would!

Was it because kids eat free at Morrisons with an adult meal? So because you got your meal refunded it looked as if you were scamming them i.e. deliberately complaining for a refund in order to get a totally free meal, then sharing your child's meal?

Obviously it wasn't your fault, and is bonkers of the manager- but perhaps they've had problems and you got the brunt of it?

Doesn't excuse the poor customer service, and they should have resupplied your meal rather than offer the refund if it's an issue for them.

Thank you for that insightful comment GahBuggerIt...I did stop off at customer services where I, and 5 others, waited for almost 10 minutes and no one arrived despite us asking several times at the tobacco counter then asking to speak to the manager who didn't turn up ...I have a life and I'd rather not waste it standing waiting for a manager who may or may not get his arse in gear
