To think this woman is a CF? Parking.

My Oh works in a shop in town that has a shared car park with two other shops. The car park doesn't have set spaces for each shop or even set areas for each shop. It's unmarked, not even has tarmac and doesn't even have a gate, it's just a piece of shingled land. He has to get to work about 45 mins early to get a spot. Our car is a medium size one and he parks in a usual manner, not sticking out or anti socially. Just the same as everyone else. He's only been there a few months but one of the other people that works in the next door shop has complained to his boss that he's parking in her spot. She said it should be kept for her as she's been there years and it always has been hers. She wanted him to move it midshift. The boss checked with the higher ups about the car park and it turns out it belongs to the shop my oh works at and they allow the other shops to use spaces as a courtesy. The woman was told this and told that he wouldn't be moving. But now she comes into his shop and asks him to move his car regularly out of her spot. He doesn't of course, he politely refuses and tells her it's a first come first served system and he gets there first. He's getting fed up with this. He's now considering getting a neighbour to drop him off rather than put up with this. I can't drive so can't drop him. But the neighbour works longer hours and oh would have to wait around. Other parking options are very expensive, which I guess is why this woman is kicking off. I think Oh should just keep parking there but he is feeling like it's not going to stop. I think she's a CF and best thing to do is stand up to her. His boss isn't there most of the time so hasn't got involved again but I'm trying to get Oh to get them involved as he shouldn't have to put up with it. He just wants it to stop. If I could drive then dropping him off would be an option but I can't. Ainu to think this behaviour is not on and needs stopping? Sorry no diagram!

Surely she will get tired of coming round and asking, if he just keeps replying politely and smiling sweetly at her.

Yes she is a CF.

Can't he tell her that his shop are considering rescinding their kind offer to share their land with hers and the other shop due to her behaviour? Might shut her up?

Can he get the situation, ie that his shop owns the car park, in writing, nothing too formal, just confirmed by email with his boss? I'd do that, print out lots of copies then every time she comes in to ask him to move he silently hands her another copy of it. No need for any confrontation then.

But I'm PA tho Grin

I think I would ask his boss to remind her again that her parking there is acourtesy from his shop, and if she keeps harrassing him permision will be recinded --and get penguin bollards==

I'd ask boss to ban her from the shop. Put a mugshot behind the till.

Loving the idea of penguin bollards 😂

Yes, CF indeed. Don't let DH cave -continue to smile and refuse and then ignore.

CF sounds very entitled. She should either get there earlier or organize another form of parking/ travel into work. She cannot expect others to work around her. No matter where you work parking works the same way. He should not back down and give into the paddying child.

The stupid thing is if she came earlier then she could get the space and my Oh wouldn't complain to her.

HIs boss speaks to her or her boss.

And get a sign put up explaining the ownership of the carpark.

OP you are forgiven for not doing a diagram Grin because this one is obvious. CFs of the world unite, you have nothing to lose except your parking spaces!

The cf is friends with some of ohs colleagues as she's been there so long so often comes in to chat with them and buys stuff for her co workers in her shop so boss won't ban her. Some of his colleagues are a bit off with him over this.

Just wish I could drive so it wouldn't matter

Was free parking mentioned to him as a perk of the job before he started? What sticks out for me is that she has been there years, and he has only recently started. It would piss me off too, if I'd been working somewhere for ages, and turned up one morning to find the new guy was parked in the spot that had "become mine" through years of continuous use. Can they not come to some arrangement?

What would your DH do if he couldn't park there? What if she gets in early?

And the fact that some of his colleagues are off with him bears out what I just wrote. I don't think she's your run-of-the-mill CF. She feels genuinely wronged, as I think I would too.

Is there still room for her to park in the "car park?" If yes then she is definitely bu.
If she now has to park elsewhere I can see why she would be annoyed if she is used to parking there for a long time. She is still being unreasonable though.

Yes the car park was told to him as a perk of his job. What arrangement could there be? and why should he? It's not her space, she's just been lucky (or I suspect made the previous people move by bullying and bad behaviour) to find a space before. If you took out the fact it's a works car park, would you get annoyed if it was a pay dark park at say a rail station? No because it's open to first come first served.

So what would he do if she got there early?
I'm tending to agree that I would be a bit pissed of in her position

If there wasn't a space then he would go park in the pay car park but it's very expensive. And as it's actually his works car park not hers then it's for his work with left overs if there are any for the other shops. His work owns it. She wants her space left open rather than anyone else use it anytime. She even came and complained when a strange car was in it. Turned out to be a higher boss visiting.

It's the only spot left, so nothing to do with it being her spot, it's literally the last spot in the car park. And I think priority should be to the person who gets there first, especially as it's for his shop.
