Hello. What were we saying? Susie was on here wasn't she?

Place mark!

Yes Susie was here. Saying MN was too negative for her but that's fine because we're all different.

I could say quite a lot about that but I won't Smile

Maybe MoD will pop on. Heard they've sold the house.

Are they all going to pile on now because we all liked MotherPukka for sticking her head above the parapet?

Glad this thread is still going. Keeping me going in the last stages of the summer holidays...

In the spirit of being positive: I really like the unmumsy mum and hurrah for gin.

Placemarking because I posted on the other thread a lot but can't think of anything to say on this one.....yet

I like unmumsy mum, she's very funny

Yes but, but, buuuut I think the general consensus before she came on, was that motherpukka was pretty good and certainly had a great cause to promote and was genuine and clear. Some of the others mentioned are unlikely to come on if they've RTFT to be honest.

So we were asked by a person on the other thread why we follow people we don't like. My answer is that in some cases (fod, mod) it's for the same reasons as I might pick up ok magazine and read about Kerry Katonas latest tummy tuck. Others: pukka for example, I like, find funny but sometimes find a bit cringe (sorry pukka) I have lots of reasons to follow different people. Don't like don't follow doesn't really work for me.

And actually mother pukka has just gone up massively in my estimation. She seems to get it.

Yes. TBH I think I'm going to bow out of this discussion soon. I still feel uncomfortable with comfortably middle class people (not just women) commoditising family life for financial gain (in the form of cash or freebies). No I don't think the people that do this are truly awful, I just don't think it's something I could ever do myself. No we definitely should not ever post links to people's homes on Mumsnet threads, or call their kids ugly, or imply they're idiots because they sometimes spell things incorrectly. Yes, I do think some of the Instagram-famous parents mentioned in the original thread have gone too far with the promotion stuff and could probably do with a little break from social media altogether. Yes I would love to see more community-based projects from these parents, not just photos of them hugging other instaparents at sparkly parties in Soho or Dalston. A little more charity, a little less goody-bag. And I literally have nothing more to say on the matter.

Totally agree langkaw. I thoroughly enjoy following several I really find awful, in the same way that when a Fbk friend writes a showing off post I get a rush of pleasure as I look at what she's written (before screen grabbing it and sending it to another friend for joyful discussion).

The telly version of this is called car crash tv.
Lots of people enjoy it - hence why this thread has been buzzing for several days.

The idea that insta people shouldn't be discussed- Hmm Allergybus Sorry but I find that ridiculous. These people are out there. Big time. Of course they're going to be discussed - and not just on the controlled environments of their insta feeds.

I like stylemesunday. She doesn't really show her kids much.

I haven't read the other thread but I can say that I hate instamums...

  • complaining how awful their kids are
  • "give me ALL the gin" etc

If you're life that awful with these kids that u have to drink 24/7 then why parade it on social media

Running: I do exactly the same with fb humble braggers! I get the same rush and post it to my bitchy friend!!!
