The official countdown starts for me on 1st September. As you said, only a third of the year to go Grin

I started my Christmas shopping a couple of weeks ago!

YANBU re Christmas displays though. The kids aren't even back at school yet!

Does that mean I can have a mince pie?!

YANBU - a pub near is has their 'Christmas bookings now being taken - hurry to avoid disappointment' banner up!

Plus seen chocs/cards already.

I like Xmas just as much as the next person but it's way too early! I swear it gets earlier every bloody year!

I want to enjoy September (start of New school year, stationary, meeting my new classes), Halloween, bonfire and mine and DS birthdays in Nov before I think about Christmas!

Totally agree. I am not a Christmas fan. I hate the cold weather and permanent darkness. I hate the competitive consumerism that most people go in for and the amount of SHITE which is bought only to go straight in the bin. It's not a particularly enjoyable time of year for me but it is taboo to say so or you get the "scrooge" and "grinch" comments.

Christmas should start on 1st December. No earlier.

It's still August FFS!! Way too early for Christmas. Given all the threads that pop up on MN about how stressful Xmas is and how expensive etc, I'm surprised so many MNers start their prep so early.

Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year but even I agree with you. I don't want to see any of it until November.

By Christmas displays, are we talking light up trees, reindeer, fake snow in the windows? That's bloody mad

I have genuinely just turned to my mum and said "I'm getting excited about Christmas already" ... then I saw this thread.

I'm pregnant. Can I blame hormones??

I love Christmas and am not averse to a bit of early planning/present buying.

I do wish we could wait for the last thing to finish before moving on to the next thing - we have autumn, Halloween and bonfire night to go yet and we are still in the summer holidays.

Last year I was all Christmassed out by the time we got to it! This year I'm reigning everything in a lot.

Yanbu. It's too early. Where are all these people buying cards in August to justify the floor space?

If the weather was nice I'd probably agree with you but it's so grim here I'm happy for Christmas to start!
