To not wash in the morning?

I start very early - usually before 7 - and often don't get back till about half nine so I shower then. Then in the morning I just put my uniform on and go. AIBU?

Sounds a bit gross.

It doesn't matter what time you start work, most people shower beforehand. It's basic hygiene.

No one wants to smell your overnight sweat.

I'd hate to leave the house without showering.

Moanyoldcow Sat 19-Aug-17 18:30:03

Yes. Showers take 5 minutes. I'd forego breakfast for a shower.

I think it's fine, I hardly ever shower b4 work, I do it in the evening
Or afternoon instead. Most of my colleagues are the same. I wouldn't worry. Brush teeth tho and applying deodrant !

Love the outrage at your reeking overnight sweat grin Of course it's fine

yellowlanterns Sat 19-Aug-17 18:34:19

I don't sweat much if at all overnight. I don't eat breakfast either FWIW.

I do the same unless it's been really warm overnight. Shower before bed and a quick face/pit wash in the morning.

A shower can take just 5 minutes if you are quick but having said that I don't think it is that terrible if you can't manage it. I worked with a man who only showered at night and he seemed clean and didn't smell bad.
I shower every morning because I like to feel fresh and not for anyone else's benefit.

everybodysang Sat 19-Aug-17 18:34:50

I leave for work at 5.15am and get home at 7pm some days and midnight on others. I shower at night.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce Sat 19-Aug-17 18:35:01

I never have showers in the morning... I do have a wash, brush teeth and apply deodorant though! I'm more of shower in the evening kind of girl

abigailgabble Sat 19-Aug-17 18:35:37

You are a night showerer. As am I. Nowt wrong with that.

Imagine the pigs who crawl into bed covered in work juice confused

Ameliablue Sat 19-Aug-17 18:35:38

Depends what your job is.

yellowlanterns Sat 19-Aug-17 18:36:19

Ah see that was what I actually meant re not washing emma I don't bother with that. My parents hardly ever showered - don't know why - but would have elaborate strip washes! A shower would have been less trouble! hmm smile

The main thing with showering is my hair. It's long and heavy. Yes you can use shower caps but the very edges still get damp and putting it under a shower cap means it goes into a weird shape!

AnUtterIdiot Sat 19-Aug-17 18:36:19

Proper shower at night, quick scrub of potentially whiffy nooks and crannies before dressing in the morning. That's what I do if I'm leaving really early. If I got very sweaty at night I would shower in the morning though.

AwfulSomething Sat 19-Aug-17 18:36:31

Even on earlies I manage exercise and a shower even if it means getting up at 3am. I couldn't face work without both.

AccrualIntentions Sat 19-Aug-17 18:37:03

I think it's fine. I shower or bath at night before bed then just have a quick wash at the sink in the morning (unless there have been shenanigans in the night to warrant a shower).

BackforGood Sat 19-Aug-17 18:37:42

Perfectly reasonable to only shower in the evenings.
I tend to need to throw some cold water at my face before doing much else though, when I get up.
That said, some people sweat a lot more than others. Some people would be fine to go without showers or baths for a few days, there are a tiny minority who may need to have a shower twice a day.
I presume you are using a deodorant or anti-antiperspirant ?

Sparklingbrook Sat 19-Aug-17 18:38:36

I shower morning and evening. blush

2littlemoos Sat 19-Aug-17 18:39:12

I don't shower every morning but I don't sweat really in the night.

Don't sweat it wink

CaptainHammer Sat 19-Aug-17 18:39:24

I shower when I'm home from work. I start at 6.30 and can't shower that early, I do wash my face though to wake me up a bit. DH showers when he gets home but doesn't shower/wash in the morning unless particularly sweaty.

AnUtterIdiot Sat 19-Aug-17 18:39:35

I have occasionally gone without the night shower but I really wouldn't go without the scrub in the morning if I could avoid it. Mind you, that's more because I like to make sure my skin's in OK condition than because I think I would empty a room if I didn't. I think in terms of upsetting other people you can probably go a couple of days without a wash before it becomes obvious but I wouldn't actually want to.

DorisDangleberry Sat 19-Aug-17 18:40:40

No need to shower in the morning if you have showered the night before. It's not as if you have run a marathon in your sleep

AnUtterIdiot Sat 19-Aug-17 18:40:46

Although how many uniforms do you have? I used to work in retail and even if you were full time they didn't give you enough to change every day.
