We're taking them up to OH's parents tomorrow, staying the night (it's DD's 4th birthday tomorrow), and then OH and I are heading home ALONE on Sunday.

Kids will be away till next Sunday.

I have loads planned..meal out with OH, drinks with friends, seeing my mum and brother, getting my hair done..oh and divine peace and quiet, no squabbling/being woken up at 5.30am/refereeing endless bickering between DD and DS (6)/picking up toys etc etc

The kids will have a great time with the g/parents too..MiL is an ex-teacher and always has loads planned.

One of my friends said 'oh I'll bet you'll really miss them'...errr no!

I love my children, but fuck me I'm looking forward to a child-free week Grin

I felt the same, we have loads planned as we are going to be child free for 13 days, and tbh I'm now feeling sick to my stomach and just dreading the whole thing tbh.

That would be heaven for me for a couple of days and even though my 2 dds squabble I would really miss them. Make the most of it though!

My DP took DS away for five nights. I enjoyed that more than our family trip to Majorca.

Nope. I'm having to leave a family holiday 4 days early for work. I'm rather looking forward to it being just me and Dcat Grin

We went to Menorca for a week, and whilst I was looking forward to that and we had a great time, I think I'm looking forward to some downtime even more.

I'm so knackered..I think just not having to run to any kind of schedule will be so liberating.

Of course YANBU! Smile

We love our kids, but they can be hard work sometimes.

You will probably be on here in 5 or 6 days, saying how much you're missing them though! Grin

I remember getting the first baby free night since my first was born, when she was 4 months old. I was elated.

Within an hour of going out for the night, I was pining for her, and feeling guilty. Confused

Yeah, I know.... daft.

I will miss them (a very, tiny, weeny bit..maybe...), but we do FaceTime every few days and that helps...as well as being to end the call if/when they start getting hyper and silly Grin

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag why are you dreading your child free days (if you don't mind me asking)?

I would not miss mine in the slightest and would be pushing them thru the door and running with a cloud of dust behind me to the nearest pub!
Enjoy you lucky thing! Wish I had a mil like this!

Am very jealous.

Dd (13) is a moody mary atm. Ds (3) is in full on threenager mode. Even the dog is driving me up the wall.

I would miss them all dearly. While binge reading, binge eating and binge drinking.

Mine are also going away for a week on Sunday and I also cannot wait!! They are driving me absolutely up the wall either their constant sillyness and fighting (two boys aged 7 and 4)

I will miss the baby (10 month old girl) but the two boys would be staying at grandparents for the rest of the holidays if it was up to me! They are more than ready for going back to school! No amount of activities and days out are satisfying them now.

I've got 36 child free hours starting at 7pm... I'm counting down the minutes!

YANBU, mil just had my dc from Wednesday through till today. It was glorious, although I did feel a bit bad as DP still had to go to work. I got so much cleaning done and even had time for a spontaneous nap.

I went out to the supermarket at 6pm one evening, just because I could. Usually I'm knee deep in dinner & bedtime routines at that time so it was great.

We had the same a few weeks ago too. We are very lucky that mil only works term time and is itching to have them through the holidays.

I really really relish child free time. I love them dearly but they are so exhausting. Having time away from them makes me a better parent imo.

I certainly won't miss mealtimes..I hate them. Both of mine are really fussy in their own ways, and DD seems to take absolute delight in making as much mess as humanly possible, seemingly to wind me up.

A week of not having to wrack my brains of what to feed the two of them, and clean up afterwards is just wondrous.

The school holidays are taking their toll!

Nope I'm with you on this lol! My two dc are off to grandmas for a week next week and I'm secretly relieved. It's been hard this summer entertaining them especially in bad weather( rained everyday since breakup I'm sure!)
I won't miss the constant bickering and mess :) and only being able to do nights at work so yes I'm excited for a little peace also :) enjoy your time off

Although I've got all these big plans about what to do next week while they are away, I know I will end up with my rubber gloves on scrubbing and tidying every inch of this house! Surely I'm not the only one that does this?

I shall definitely be fitting some of that in. I don't feel like I've had a proper sleep for about 6 years!
