Why is it ok to shoot your friend but not wrong your dh's neck?

I apologise if this is not allowed or if I have breached a rule but I am genuinely wondering this. A thread yesterday where the dp was an absolute arse, had the title about wringing his neck. This was changed by mnhq. However the thread about shooting a friend is still very much going (albeit it is a lighter hearted thread but even so..)

I am sorry if anyone else has mentioned this and I know it is a taat but seriously mnhq. Why?

Personally I think:
a) shooting your friend is a lot more hyperbolic and fantastical than wringing DH's neck, so I see a difference there.
b) the thread was angry and not very light-hearted, so the 'threat' seemed more serious.

Obviously neither is serious, but one was clearly a joke and the other was sort-of-not-really a joke.

I wouldn't be happy if there was an angry thread titled "I want to wring DW's neck" either.

Because more posters get upset about threats of violence towards men from women?

They think it's terrible that certain turns of phrases have been used from a female to a male. Mostly you'll find the complint is made for the (the ironic reasoning) that if a man said it about a women there would be an total and utter outcry.

But to 'wring someone's neck' is just a saying/phrase, right? It never actually happens.

Shooting someone is far more violent and an actual thing that happens.

Tizzy both posts are about males

Ah right. Scrap that then. No clue why.

I don't actually think either needs to be censored - I mean we are grown ups, we can cope, we can tell the difference between people using figures of speech and actual threats of violence.

Of the two examples given I would find the shooting one more 'violent'.

That is what I think Kurri Neither caused me concern or offence. And if they did to others then they are both on par with each other imo

But threads about men choking women during sex are allowed in the Sex topic. There are women supporting it, too. I can't understand why the OP who wanted to wring her husband's neck had to have her title deleted when others don't.

It probably means one thread was reported and the other one wasn't.

Have to say I don't like the sorts of thread titles which offer violence. Because they always looks wrong when they are context-free in 'Active'

Better in the OP (just as long as the tone is clear from the writing, and there isn't a dreadful 'lighthearted' anywhere.

A quick google shows that is also alright according to MNHQ to want to punch, kick or trip Eamon Holmes Grin

I guess someone reported it to MNHQ. Absolutely flummoxed to why anyone would tbh. Some people Confused

Presumably because one was lighthearted and the other wasn't, and because one provoked complaints and the other didn't. To be fair to MNHQ, weighing up the exact offence-causing levels of different phrases and sayings in different thread titles and then assessing them in relation to the seriousness or otherwise of thread content probably isn't a precise science...
