AIBU?

To think that there should be laws about leggings?

Just reading to my DD in the library. Mum with similar aged daughter is wearing black leggings. I say black but in fact they are closer to a little bit opaque, only a little mind. She is not wearing underwear. She is basically naked from the waist down, sitting four feet from me with her legs open whilst her dd sits on the floor listening to her read. I'm not even sure that they are leggings, they might be tights, they certainly couldn't be any tighter. I feel like I am being presented with a view that should be reserved for gynecologists, midwives and lovers.

Does she not have a mirror at home Shock

dadshere · 28/07/2017 14:38

Everything, (I mean everything) is perfectly visible. She has left now, thankfully. Who goes out (un)dressed like that?

Great God No! Dh thinks leggings are obscene, I'll have to show him this thread. No underwear is just asking for a yeast infection.

ZaraW · 28/07/2017 14:42

I saw a woman at a train station sitting cross legged on the floor again wearing no underwear she had a large hole in the crotch area.

ZaraW · 28/07/2017 14:43

Sorry, she was wearing leggings too.

JuicyCake · 28/07/2017 14:45

I've never owned a pair of leggings... They're in the house clothes category for me, same with Ugh boots & PJs.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/07/2017 14:48

I suspect people don't realise how see-through their leggings can get, once they are on - because they don't look see-through without a person in them.

I do wear leggings, and am very overweight, but I am very conscious of the risk of showing anything anyone else might not want to see, so I only wear them with a long tunic or skater dress, and wouldn't sit so anyone could see up my skirt.

I saw a woman wearing Daisy Dukes so short and tight that it unfortunately acted like a thong when she bent over to do her shoelace up. I did not need to know that she didn't wax her bikini line.

Glad you cleared that one up, ZaraW. Most of us have a large hole in the crotch area, ha ha...

peachgreen · 28/07/2017 14:57

I normally don't give two hoots what people wear, see-through leggings or no, but I was once going up on an escalator behind a girl wearing see through leggings, a tiny pair of white knickers and a sanitary towel. Shock

RideOn · 28/07/2017 14:59

JuicyCake beat me to it Grin

redjoker · 28/07/2017 14:59

I once saw a pink thong with white leggings

It is something i cannot forget

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:11

I LOVE my leggings!

But I always wear them with a dress or with a towthat is long enough to hide my enormousbackside.

And I always wear proper * underwear.

*By "proper" I mean knickers that leave no VPL, not because they are clinging and sheer, but because they reach from just under my armpits to just above my knees . . .

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:11

*top that, now towthat

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:11

*not, not now

Yes DS's teacher used to wear too tight leggings without a top covering. I have been met with the outline of her fanny lips on more than one occasion on pick up. Three friggin years of it.

They used to be worn with long (bum covering) sweaters or tops. Surely it's only in the last couple of years that they've been acceptable as actual trousers??

SheSaidHeSaid · 28/07/2017 15:15

Leggings are fine but IMO when they are treated as though they're basically thick tights or with a long top that covers your bum and fanjo.

I'm well aware of how see-through they can become but it seems not everyone is so aware.
