AIBU?

Former work colleague is obsessed with my work place address

So I joined an office as a trainee. It was an office of 8 workers, all very close and loved working there. They'd worked in that office for 8 years and were very settled there.

Then the call came to say the team were moving to an office less convenient for them. More modern and would increase organisation as everyone would be based in the same large office but the team weren't happy. They had their own desks and this office was hot desking.

Now when I qualified I applied for several positions and randomly I ended up back at their old office. I love it there as it's a cosy office and I have my own desk.

When I put that I'd got a job on Facebook one woman I worked with and had got on well with messaged saying 'ah it's so unfair you're working there. I want to be back there'.

She has regularly text to ask me if I'm 'still at our old office'. She doesn't even disguise it with 'hey how you getting on' or similar. It's literally every month 'are you still working at our old office'.

I'm finding it a bit creepy to be honest. Why does she care? She will never return there as her job has been officially moved to that office long term and she isn't qualified to do the line of work we do in 'her old office'.

AIBU to find it a bit odd?

so she's jealous and looking through rose tinted specs. As you say..she won't return. She's brooding and dwelling.
I'd just block her.

Block her number. She's got nothing to do with you any more.

She's worried. There's something hidden in the old office. Either it's her secret family recipe for lemon drizzle or it's the treasure hoard of dread pirate Roberts.

She's hidden a dead body somewhere and is checking no one's found it yet.

Or the millions she stole in a bank robbery and is angling for an invite now the heat's died down and she can start spending the dosh.

Or there's a portal to another dimension and she was the Slayer charged with defending earth from the demons that pass through, but doesn't want to alarm you.

They sound like conversational starters to me. It's a thing you have in common, so it's what she says to initiate a conversation.

I doubt that's the only reason she's interested in you.

Has she got nothing better to do? Work a bit slow where she is?

Block her. How tedious.

So funny you posted this as I have similar but not work related. I don't know what it is...jealousy probably.

The woman who does it to me was a mate when we were teens...then we both moved to London to pursue the same career...I did better than her and she did a few things to make me ditch her.

Over the years she's sent me random messages of enquiry..about once a year. "Are you still in London?" or "Are you still with X?:

Very abrupt and nosey.

I ignored the last one completely and felt free...then yesterday I got a message from a mutual mate I've not seen for years...a private message on FB saying "I'm with G...she wants to know are you still in London?"

Wtf?

So I sent back a highly boastful message with photos and an invitation to the friend who'd got in touch but NOT the nutty ex friend.

Hopefully that will make her leave me alone!
