Am I being paranoid here...
About 3 weeks ago I got a phone call from my landlord saying someone had rang them and told them wasn't living in my property..I had abandoned it apparently (no true obviously )
Then tonight I come home from work and I have no electricity on in my flat.
I check my box in my flat to see if any switches were facing down but nope all fine, nothing had tripled the box.
Ring n power and they sent a engineer out who looks at my box says all is fine etc then he checks the box outside my flat (stupidly I didn't have the sense to check because it only shows the meter reading) and someone had switched my supply off there.
Now he said that can only be manually switched off.
There's only 4 flats inside the building and you need a key to access it.
All my food is ruined.
What do you reckon?
Is that dodgy to you?

Why is your food ruined? How long had the electricity been off? If the fridge door was closed then your food will be fine

MaximaDeWit · 25/07/2017 21:52

But yes, it's odd!

Lauraagh · 25/07/2017 21:54

I lived work at half 7 and got home at half 6 so 11 hours or so ..do you think it will be ok then?
I'm a bit funny when it comes to food etc

I left for work (god this phone !!! )

OliviaBenson · 25/07/2017 21:55

I doubt that it's all ruined op! If it was off it will still have kept cool for a bit. Sniff test things!!

Majora · 25/07/2017 21:56

I probably wouldn't have the frozen stuff but fridge should be fine.

I wuold definitely ask wtf is going on.

OliviaBenson · 25/07/2017 21:56

But in answer to your first question, I'd say yes. Have you upset anyone recently?

Lauraagh · 25/07/2017 21:56

I'm just worried someone is doing all these weird things and I don't know why.

Are you a bad noisy neighbour?someone I know did this to their's who was hosting all night parties and using drugs in the garden. Naughty but also a bit Grin

misshelena · 25/07/2017 21:58

YANBU someone in your building doesn't want you there. Don't you have an idea who? Creepy...

BMW6 · 25/07/2017 21:58

Food should be fine. I think you should ring police on 101 as sounds like someone has a grudge against you.

Lauraagh · 25/07/2017 21:58

I was friends with a girl for over 10 years and we fell out a year ago after I refused to lend her £600 her other friend lives opposite me and I don't speak to him anymore as he ignores me.
I wouldn't of thought it would be him as its pretty pointless.
Why not do it straight away.

OP posts:
Lauraagh · 25/07/2017 21:59

I'm not noisy no.
I'm hardly ever in as I work a lot and out at weekends etc.
It's creeping me out now.

Manijo · 25/07/2017 22:19

Could there be somebody wanting their hands on your flat? by the way...all your food should be fine.

Someone could have been mistaken and thought you'd moved out? Is a bit weird, though. Confused

Forgettheworld · 25/07/2017 22:24

Yes sounds like somebody has a problem. I'd get some sort of CCTV up, things like this started happening to me and the things got worse and worse. I ended up with my car being wrote off by them throwing paint stripper over it.

Lauraagh · 25/07/2017 22:27

Even if i thought someone had moved out I wouldn't dream of ringing the landlord.
I only have 1 lock on my door...I think I might get a couple of bolts too.

Did they need a key to access the box outside?

DanHumphreyIsA · 26/07/2017 00:42

Sounds very weird, I second the PP who suggested CCTV. You can get some cheap ones online that allow you to access footage from your phone.
Is there anyway you can cover the outside box, so only you have access to it? (check with LL for permission first)

TheVanguardSix · 26/07/2017 00:45

So whoever it is, has your landlord's phone number. It must be someone in the building. How are your relations with your neighbours?

It does sound like on of your neighbors to be able to call the LL. Get the CCTV set up and catch the bastard.

ReginaGeorgeinSheepsClothing · 26/07/2017 06:46

BandQ have the cctv thing on sale at the mo.

FruBayerischOla · 26/07/2017 06:58

Have you checked with your landlord that he didn't have the electricity turned off? Maybe he didn't believe you when you said that you hadn't abandoned the flat - although given that you must still be paying rent on time he should know that you're still there.

Otherwise it does sound extremely dodgy.
