My vagina is on fire !! Help

Not literally you understand but more of omg it's beyond ridiculous type pain.
I have just finished a course of antibiotics/painkillers and got what I thought was thrush so brought some canesten and thought that would do it, however it has done nothing and i have the most intense itching/pressure/feeling like I've had intense sex/burning feeling that is going no where!
I have slept with a ice pack in between my legs and have seriously contemplated putting Ice in my vagina at this point.

Any solutions wise mumsnetters ... there are no doctors appointments for 4 days, no walk in clinic nearby and the pharmacist said they weren't sure as they can't examine me ... if I have to last four days like this I may kill someone

I'd go and buy some

Oral or pessary canesten

Natural yoghurt ( put some on a period pad and wear in your knickers, I promise you will never of felt relief like it)

Do you have a lot of sugar in your diet? If so stop that!

Back to the gp when you can

I find often with thrush 1 dose of canesten is not enough, I have to take 2

Phone 111?

It sounds really sore. I think vagisil has mild numbing in it which might make things a bit more bareable.

Wouldn't this be classed as an emergency appointment.

I'd be phoning back asking for a more immediate appointment. In the mean time what about natural yogurt and smothering it over and in your vagina, it's good for soothing the pain and itch apparently.

Can you sit in a bath of tepid water? I suffered with continuous awful thrush at one time and that was the only thing that helped soothe the horrendous burning itch. I really feel for you, it's horrible Flowers

I always use the canestan internal cream in its own applicator; it is very soothing and sorts out any thrush lingering around. Hope you feel better soon. X

I have had a reaction like this to canestan cream. I would take the oral tablet canestan/diflucan and try the natural yoghurt as pp suggested. Keep going with the ice if it's helping. Any worse or not getting better in next 24hrs I'd get urgent GP/ call 111

I've had similar for the last 5 days OP.

I've used natural yoghurt, canesten pessary and cream. Just have to keep doing it until the itching goes. If it continues beyond 7 days then see your GP.

Gah you poor thing. Have you tried Balance Activ? It's for bacterial vaginitis and is very soothing I've found.

Is there a gum clinic you can try?

Report
birdtableseeds · 25/07/2017 12:03

I would try a GUM/sexual health clinic, most are walk in. Even though it's not sexually transmitted, they can examine you and can give pessaries/cream.

Soak a tampon in natutal live yoghurt (has to be live, not just normal yoghurt) and put some on a pad in your knickers too. Rather messy but it does work. It could be that you've irritated sensitive tissue with all the things you've tried (canesten cream doesn't work for me, makes it more itchy, but the old fashioned pessary is ok).

Get the thrush cream for external itching. You can apply 3x a day.

I had exactly this a couple of weeks ago! First canesten pessary didn't even touch the sides (as it were). Had no idea what was going on and went to the GUM walk in clinic, she confirmed it was thrush and gave me a big tube of cream and three more pessaries. Had to use them three nights in a row, and use the cream, and by the 2nd day it was all good again. She also told me to avoid sex until a couple of days after the last pessary.

Natural yoghurt is soothing and yes you can use ice, as I found out when googling a couple of weeks ago.

Antibiotics kill your natural vaginal flora (bacteria) and this leaves you open to infections with fungi.
The best way to solve the problem is to replace the bacteria - kiling off the fungus doesn't help much, long-term, because it can reinfect you.

I'd recommend some product containing natural vaginal bacteria from the pharmacy (I don't recognize the medications you mention - do they contain lactic acid bacteria?) instead of natural yoghurt, just to be on the safe side.

If you do use yoghurt, make sure it does not contain any sugar, starch, or, anything except milk, really.

Good luck!

Where do I buy live yoghurt ? Is that a daft question.. can I buy it in Tesco ?
I am walking like John Wayne currently so don't want to be out and wandering more than necessary.

It is defiantly not cystitis it's internally in my vagina not a UTI if that makes sense ... it's got to the point I have no shame and I am actively talking about my vagina on the internet bloomin hell !!

It's never happened to me but I've several friends who swear by a tampon soaked in plain live yoghurt.

Good luck OP.
