So for the past year my auntie's neighbour's child has been standing at the window nearly everyday looking sad. He looks like he hadn't had a bath in awhile and just stands there no matter the weather. There's a park 1min walk from the House and no one bothers to take him. Me and my 3year dd waved few times but he doesn't wave back or even smile.

I'm thinking about calling SS or to knock at the door saying something but I don't know how that will go. He looks so sad and neglected it's been a whole year maybe more that he's been left to stand there.

OP posts:

He's been standing in the window for one year Shock

ImperialBlether · 24/07/2017 23:08

But how can you possibly know anything about him? You've extrapolated an enormous amount from your one minute sighting!

harasas · 24/07/2017 23:09

How do know no one takes him? Is there going to be a huge back story to this?

Katiekatie37 · 24/07/2017 23:09

Are you in the park 24/7 to know he hasn't been ?

PastaOfMuppets · 24/07/2017 23:10

OP it is quite obvious what you're seeing is a mannquin
Or a cardboard cut out

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/07/2017 23:10

I'm also confused how you know so much.

Slimthistime · 24/07/2017 23:11

Ghost child?!

Camomila · 24/07/2017 23:11

What time does he stand there? If it's early evening could he be waiting fir someone...One of my toddlers favourite activities is waiting at the window (I hold him up) for daddy to come home from work along the path.

SnickersWasAHorse · 24/07/2017 23:11

Are you sure it's an actual child and not one of those creepy dolls.

AnneGrommit · 24/07/2017 23:12

Standing in one place for a year? He's a droid. Back away, slowly.

How old is the child? What's your auntie's opinion? What r the parents like? What gives u the impression he hasn't had a bath in a while? Would b helpful to know a bit more info.

However, from what u say, I'd be giving social services a quick call just to mention your concerns, in case it tallies with any other info they have. If it's nothing, it's nothing.

Dairymilkmuncher · 24/07/2017 23:15

My toddler likes the feel of the cold glass on his face, he also likes putting his face on my dirty wet car.

Are you sure that the little one is unwashed and not just mucky from crafty play or baking at home with his parents?

MeltorPeltor · 24/07/2017 23:16

My 2 year old loves standing on his table to look out the window and he often looks like he needs a bath (how the fuck do they get so sticky so quickly?), he would also look sad if a stranger was staring at him everyday.

In fact we also live a short walk from a park...

mumistheword14 are you stalking my house?!

BeautifulWintersMorning · 24/07/2017 23:16

I remember there was a neglect case in the news where the child had been seen always looking out of the window like this. Trust your instincts that something isn't right and report it.

AnneGrommit · 24/07/2017 23:17

Are we really telling people to inform social services that children are looking out of windows? Confused

indigox · 24/07/2017 23:18

My DS stands at our window as he LOVES people watching, usually the same times each day, but he certainly wouldn't wave at strangers and it doesn't mean he's there ALL day EVERY day.

craftsy · 24/07/2017 23:18

Does he stand at his own window looking out or is he outside your aunt's window looking in?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 24/07/2017 23:19

In that case OP my DS must be seriously neglected. He often sits at the window. I think he's a cat trapped in a humans body. He just likes to sit there and people watch be nosy. He gets it from me. Wink

That small snippet you see is a small chunk to take a big inference from. I know small children often look like they've been down the pit but most are still given baths at the end of the day.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 24/07/2017 23:22

but he certainly wouldn't wave at strangers mine would. He once ran up to a random security guard he'd never ever seen before at an art event just to give her a giant hug.

Nomdutilisateur · 24/07/2017 23:22

Maybe it's just a really small adult?

CheshireChat · 24/07/2017 23:24

What's with the kids at the window thing tonight?!

It's the second thread where I'm thinking has DP's insane family discovered MN?!

Not me (again) but I feel I should keep the curtains up for a while.

This is one of those scary stories you hear about...

You'll ring social services, they'll go round to do a welfare check, but, a child hasn't lived in that house for 100 years... infact, no one has...

HeddaGarbled · 24/07/2017 23:26

Your aunt is there more often than you - what does she think?
