AIBU?

AIBU to feel overwhelmed?

Let me clarify, no one is pressuring me right now but me.

The last couple of weeks have been exceptionally stressful, both positive and negative stress. I spent 4 days away from home coaching Special Olympics athletes at the Provincial Summer games. The day I left, my DD fell and broke her clavicle.

The day after I returned, my DH was offered a new position that has been some time in the making. He immediately accepted and submitted 2 weeks' notice at his current position (all he was required to submit). He worked 3 days of his notice and became terribly ill.

This led to a hospitalisation in which we learned that his illness was due to a perforated bowel. Fortunately the perforation spontaneously sealed, so the abscess is being treated conservatively, but he is going to require major bowel resection surgery to remove the affected area before too long.

While he was in hospital, I was required to entertain visitors in my home that I do not get along with.

Thank God, he is home and expected to be able to still start his position next week. DD is healing well and the visitors have gone.

I am still feeling the effects of a pile of smallish things all at once, so I would like to take a couple of hours this evening to escape to a movie, but I am feeling guilty about it.

Please tell me it is OK to run away for a couple hours.

Sounds fine to me! You've been looking after your family, now it's time to look after yourself.

You absolutely should take a couple of hours!
