Does anyone know what time an announcement is likely to be made?

Sky news seem to have rolling coverage, but I think Kay is due to take over soon

I wonder if at the court case there with be more news on the current health scans to help them decide. Does anyone know when the result will be given?

If the parents are not acting in the best interest of the child, i.e. not complying with the findings of several courts - would the infant not become a ward of the court? As in, is there a child protection issue here?

Probably not too long. Chris and Connie are in the courtroom.

Thanks @Bath. I can't bear to look at the live reporting. Is anyone watching live?

Will there be a final decision today or is it review with Thursday 'verdict'?

Report
LapinR0se · 10/07/2017 14:21

Just signing in. I posted on the last thread to say that Joshua Rozenberg is tweeting live in case anyone wants to follow him.

God I just watched live. Apparently no ruling today, later this week.

The family are apparently trying to get a million people to post a selfie with #iamcharlieguard

This is really out of control Sad

Child should be protected by the courts now. Ward of court.

It is the child's needs and not the parents' that needs to be paramount now IMV. Given the awful circus going on with the child as the pawn sadly.

Otherwise there will never be an outcome that is acceptable to any side in the case.

GOSH have had to be silent due to patient confidentiality I reckon (or maybe contempt of court under sub judice rules, see previous thread). But the parents and the mob for that is what they are seem to have free rein. Not a good combo in such an emotive case IMO.

This circus has went on for far too long. Charlie deserves to be free from all the pain and suffering

What a circus!

How is someone allowed to tweet from court? Surely if there are no cameras then it should be no communication?

LapinR0se · 10/07/2017 14:26

He is the BBC legal correspondent. I suppose there will be some things he can report on and others not

Others have said full decision would be Thursday but don't what to believe these days, so many people contradicting themselves.

In terms of child protection/ward of court, I seem to think there is already some form of guardianship but I can't quite recall and I don't know what the point of a guardian is if the parents can continually stall in some way or form.

Of course, GOSH could have followed the previous ruling and switched the ventilator off some time ago now but didn't, gave the family more time. If this court verdict says the previous decisions stand and the new evidence is not sufficient, I hope things move very swiftly. Giving the family more time to be with Charlie will only result in Charlie getting more bloated and they won't use the time to spend with Charlie but continue this media nonsense (we know that because that's how the used this last lot of extra time from GOSH).

Tweeting from the court is common practice I think.
The family lawyers are using the 'public support' as a ground to win their case.

Charlie's parents' counsel is putting forward the case to the Judge now.

I understand his parents' desperation, but this is not right.

The parents appear to have totally lost the plot now. Being manipulated by gutter press and mass hysteria mentality. It is a very sad case.

I think if the ruling goes in favour of GOSH then they'll move quickly. It was their gesture of giving the parents more time that caused the situation to get out if control the way it has

From previous thread, I asked legal Mnetters why this case does not fall under sub judice rules, i.e. contempt of court can happen for many things but one thing stood out for me -

"mounting an organized campaign to influence proceedings"

Does anyone have an answer as to why the "mob" element is not considered contempt of court? GOSH is silent so far in public anyway.

Sub judice rules here...

The aftermath will be worse. The poor hospital staff will need police protection.
