To think that swimming pool should not allow people to swim with underwear on?

Just got back from my local pool. Obviously very busy as hot day here.

I'm sick of the pool not giving a shit about hygiene, all the teenager and early 20s groups of lads using the pools were wearing swimming shorts but kept their boxers on too. Used to see this sometimes but now seems to be the done thing.

I mean ffs lovely to wear a pair of pants all day in 30 degree heat and then go into a pool in them.

Anyone else hate this? Chlorine does kill it all but the reason people are asked to shower etc before swimming is to reduce the amount of chlorine needed, so ideally they should shower and wear clean swimwear. Also, street clothes are heavier when wet and make it harder to rescue someone who is drowning.

I recently read that in a pool in Germany, the rules were amended to firmly state that underwear was banned. So apparently this is a thing that people try now.

Complain and hope they'll amend the rules at that pool, too?

In the article I read it was stated that they also made burkinis made of swimwear fabric explicitly allowed, so I thought it was women being too prudish to wear swimwear and swimming in their shirts.

Why on earth would boys not just change into swimming clothes?

If you mean wearing boxers under their swimming trunks my DH has to do this when we go swimming as he is very well endowed and if he doesn't have the double layer you can see EVERYTHING it's like swimming with a snake

Superhero, he doesnt have to at all, its gross. My husband has the same 'issue' he used to wear trunks under his shorts but now makes sure to buy swim shorts with inbuilt pants

I've just signed up for a pregnancy swim class who tell you to wear a sports bra under your costume. I have washed mine in preparation and will only be putting it on just before class. Hope everyone else does the same!!

How do you know if they're wearing boxers or not, did you watch them get changed, or are their boxers showing out of their shorts?

I remember an old swimming pool sign which said: "Only approved swimwear. Kamis may be worn. (I think!) No shorts, cut-downs or other unapproved swimwear."

I also remember the "no running, shouting, pushing, etc." signs.

It sure as hell doesn't remove the dirt. Just kills the bacteria. To a limited degree.

You can chlorinate a pool full of shit but I think you'd need quite a lot of chlorine to make all the bacteria die...

Have read on the forums here that pools in Europe are much less chlorinated that those in the UK.
Made a resolution to never ever go swimming in the UK.

I already can't stand the chlorine smell the pools have here!

Yes, I hate it. The water has so much particulate in it it is vile. No one is asked to remove shoes and all the damp muck gets swept into the filters. And I saw one of the lifeguards (wearing street shoes of course) squeezing his back spots and wiping it on the wall.

I go somewhere slightly better now but the filthy pool is the easiest to get to so it's annoying.

Is it really too much to ask that people should be prepared to be in the pool area and/or pool with the right arrangement of stuff (shoe covers, swim cap, fucking swimming costume ffs)?

I get worried when I can spell chlorine now, since watching a tv programme which had two hot tubs with same amount of chlorine in, one smelt one didn't. The only difference the one with a chlorine smell had a small amount of urine in it too. It is the urine that makes chlorine smell apparently. Not sure if that's true or not but worrying if it is.
