AIBU?

WIBU to wear these boots to a wedding?

I have a wedding to go to in October. I'm planning on wearing a long sleeved dark green knitted dress that's about knee length, with black tights and boots very similar to these. The wedding is in a barn and due to the time of year will be pretty cold.
Do you think it would be okay if I wore these boots, or will I look like a prat? Confused

I wouldn't, you're going to a wedding, not on a hike through alaska.

Still your choice, if you want to wear them, go for it. Smile

PS I'm sure the barn will have some kind of heating?

IMO yes. Not suitable. Smart leather / suede boots would be better. or fleece lined tights (toasty, would recommend) and normal shoes.

No.

Just no OP.

Sniggered at that. It is a wedding in a barn in October, it doesn't warrant that level of wrapping up - it isn't winter in Siberia. Wear a vest under your dress and insoles in your shoes and you'll be grand.

No, no, a million times no. Totally not wedding attire, if you have to wear boots can't they be a classy leather knee high pair instead?

In a barn. Is it going to be like a hoe-down? You maybe get away with some fleece lined leather cowboy boots

Very unreasonable, very ugly

I'm leaning towards 'prat', sorry OP, I'm all for an eclectic look, and I can see in an everyday setting these would look cute with a dress and tights but with a dress suitable for a wedding? Too casual and winter tramp through the woods with wooly hat and scarf, I'm you can find comfortable boots that look a bit more dressy?

Sorry no, they are not weddingy at all

Unless the wedding invite says "informal dress" then I wouldn't.

I know that it isn't a given that everyone has to conform to tradition.
But if you're in a sea of men in suits and smart shoes, and women in dresses and heels, then at best you'd look out of place, and at worst like you didn't think the couple were worth the effort!

Dont do it OP! It is still a wedding.

Hell no.

It won't be that cold and they look fugly.

Nope. I'd wear thermal tights and smart shoe boots. Those are very casual and rustic in style.

Oh OP no. You'll feel silly. Personally I wouldn't wear boots to a wedding but if you want to, treat yourself to some nice smart black leather ones.

I would just like to throw into the mix a friend of mine wore white timberlands for most of her own wedding but it was her own wedding which made it ok Grin

The barn won't even feel like a barn when it's done up for a wedding, there'll be patio heaters etc there

No. Don't wear those monstrosities to a wedding!

Those boots would be lovely with jeans and a snuggly jumper, but not at a wedding. Echoing previous posters who suggested long leather boots.

OP wear what you want to a wedding unless there is a dress code.

If people don't like it that's their issue not yours.
