Or consider any kind of direct action against a hospital because of decisions concerning any individual patient.

It's irresponsible.

There have been some suggestions of direct action against (the fabulous) Great Ormond Street Hospital due to a contentious ongoing case.

It's never the way to deal with such issues.

Thank you Purple. I hadn't heard anything about this being on the cards.

Are people really suggesting this?
It's such a terribly sad situation from both the point of view of the parents and the medics involved.

Report
SerfTerf · 29/06/2017 22:01

Yes it's being discussed and suggested. It will cause distress and difficulties and it won't achieve the aim.

I obviously don't agree with picketing for this particular issue at all, but are they planning to disrupt staff entering etc, or just stand with signs?

TheweewitchRoz · 29/06/2017 22:17

Completely agree Serf - very sad all round though, definitely no winners in this case.

Report
SerfTerf · 29/06/2017 22:19

They don't seem very clear what they're planning, which is even more worrying. It's a public FB group.

Yanbu. Anyone carrying on like that should be barred from the NHS.

Report
KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 29/06/2017 22:29

Who is it who suggesting this? Random people? Families? People from a support group?

It will be incredibly disruptive to staff, patients and no doubt the grieving family.

No way anyone should picket a hospital or NHS staff. YANBU.

This is very worrying news. It won't achieve anything but prolong the sadness.
It's a sad fact that some babies die. I have two dead nephews, it's harsh and may appear cold hearted but it's a fact that doctors are not able save everyone.

There's a complete shower of idiots posting on there. I hope that they never need to use GOSH's services, imagine the distress they could cause not just to the staff but also all the kids and parents there. This isn't about Charlie, they don't care about him, this is rent-a-mob stirred up by the gutter press.

Report
HeyRoly · 29/06/2017 22:37

Stupid, stupid people.

Report
FidgetSpinner · 29/06/2017 22:39

That would be incredibly insensitive.

They seem to have switched their energies to swamping the NHS' chief executive's email inbox with rants. For now at least.

They're a shower of shits. My sympathies lie wholeheartedly with Charlie and his loving parents.

Imagine taking your child for treatment there and seeing these Facebook hunning twats!

The famies facbook page is creating so much shit. Its not helping anyone. Especially charlie and his parents.

Picketing a hospital is disgracful. Reading their posts on fb iy clear most of them dont even have a clue whats going on and havent even bothered reading the court judgment.

Its disgusting. The parents need to think of all the other sick children and their parents and try to put a stop to this.

I have huge sympathy with the parents here as anyone does, but they have been posting inflammatory articles on that Facebook page which is only helping to whip up this frenzy (along with the media focus). They don't want privacy, they are clinging onto any shred of hope they can that something will change the outcome here and if picketing the hospital gives them (false) hope they will not discourage it. I don't think they are being advised or supported very well and beside the medical staff I suspect they are surrounded by the wrong type of people who are possibly not helping them in the right way.

Do they want GOSH to keep giving treatment (cruel and inhumane) or withdraw it?

Report
Saiman · 30/06/2017 07:04

Many of them donr know what they want.

Some wany treatment to continue and then him to be sent to the US. Even though the US doctor admitted its not going to help.

Some want treatment to continue indefinitely.

Some get that treatment has to stop but are demanding he die at home. Not thibking about how thats achieved, especially with the threats flying around.

Some want them to wait until monday to withdraw treatment. forgetting that the judgment went the way it did for a reason. Ie the best thing for charlie. And that waiting until monday is just prolonging this for him.

I read a few articles on fb and some of the comments are idiotic.

People saying just take him home anyway, take him to america, boycott gosh, harm the gosh staff, storm the hospital.

I reckon those people have not read all of the details of this case. I dont think the parents are helping themselves by allowing this media frenzy.
