I have a consultation tomorrow and I am nervous !!

Basically I am 37 and I just look a bit "tired" ....I used to have lovely plump lips but I think they have started to deflate a little bit sadly, so I am just thinking of getting a tiny amount of lip filler just so they look like they used to, I still want them to look natural. And botox wise I just want to look a little fresher and more awake.

I have done months of research and even went as far as to go through a consultation at SK:N clinic and book a treatment but I bottled out in the end because the customer service was absolutely shocking

The clinic I am going to tomorrow is a dentist, and I have heard they are the best people to administer botox etc as they know the anatomy of the face muscles better than a nurse or doctor.

Anyway does anyone want to admit to having had either / both? And want to share experiences? What I most want to know is did you get good results !!

I've had both. Botox twice, lips fine once. Loved the results the first time, the second time I got pressure headaches. I went to one of the best for it. Don't scrimp on it (not suggesting you are!) but I've seen some appalling results (I am a make up artist).
Results for Botox take around a week. I would have it again but haven't yet and I had it 10 years ago.

I'm 50 and have just had Botox for the first time. £250 for 2 areas and I loooove the results. I don't look younger which I didn't expect, just less 'rough'.
I went to a dentist and tbh panicked for the first 3 days that I'd have a tight odd look, but it just really softens the edges. No one knows , I've had lots of 'you look great what skincare are you using' comments.

I know it's a slippery slope and I have been a bit mirror fixated so you suddenly notice everything else, but I think if you keep it as an odd treat, don't over do it, it's worth it.

Botox is fab. Lip fillers are rarely subtle, I wouldn't have them done again personally.

I would not agree a dentist is best, I'm sorry, I think a fully qualified doctor or a respected plastic surgeon, understands more.

I think either a Dr specialising or a dentist would be my choice. Dentists know the ins and outs of facial muscles and nerves so I'd go there rather than a beauty type salon any day.
From what I've read eye lid droop/ptosis is one of the occasional problems, caused by injecting too near the levator muscles (or something) , I'd deffo want a Dr or dentist not a nurse or 'practitioner' if I go again.

I got lip fillers nearly 2 years ago, I loved it as i had a thinner side on my top lip. Think I will look into getting it done again, I went for the smallest amount and will probably remain with that.

Will wait a few more years for Botox I think 🙂

Had botox and filler (for marionette lines) about 9 years ago. Filler was great.

Botox went a bit pear shaped (forehead) was great until halfway through the next day, when I went from spok eyebrows to having them plummet down to my eyelids. Guy that did it (former GP who runs an otherwise excellent aesthetics clinic) attempted to adjust it, but said I must be hyper sensitive.

However. I WILL be having it done again before my 50th in September.

Good luck Envy

I had Botox last year and while I did enjoy looking less grumpy and tired, I will never have it again as it made me feel awful. I posted about it at the time
here

Bizarrely I was really aware of being unlined and felt quite self conscious that people would look at my smooth forehead and know that I'd had Botox. Only my sister and DH know I had it done, when I told DH some weeks later, he hadn't even noticed! None of my friends mentioned anything either!

So my advice would be to read the product info leaflet that is in with the product before you take the plunge as once it was in my body I wished it wasn't!

Iv had Botox, and I'm sure I'm on the young side to have it as well!

I had my first lot done a few months ago, and I will 100% be having it again... I had it on two areas on my forehead as I was getting lines and I hated them! No one commented but I felt so much better so it was worth it, It's only just starting to fade now and I'm seeing more movement.

But honestly, go for it.

I haven't looked into fillers as I don't think I personally need them at the moment but i may have it one day.

Oh how awful Barbie....must have been really scary

How long did it take for the droopy eyelid to go ?

About 4 days I think.

It's a pity it made me feel so bad because I would be tempted to have it again if it hadn't! Like I put on my thread, I know loads of people swear by it, but I suppose you won't know if you're one of the people who react badly until you've had it done. I now try and remember to do facial exercises and derma-rolling instead. Next step - Claudia Winkleman fringe!!

I have a home derma roller Blush I think it has helped a little bit

I also have one of those body shop facial massagers, I think that helps a bit too

I will have a good chat with him tomorrow about risks etc, it seems the risks are fairly rare. I just didn't like the idea of a droopy eye for months on end! or for ever :o

I'm 37 and had cheek fillers, botox and lip fillers for the first time a few weeks ago.

Cheeks - hurt like hell. I actually felt faint. Results are great and I look younger.

Botox - very unhappy with this as like a previous poster, it caused my eyebrows and lids to droop and I look squinty eyed and grumpy. My eyes were my best feature and now I can hardly get at my eyelashes to curl them

Lips - this hurt too. I just had the lip line done. Results were awful for the first week. Bruised and lumpy but now I love them. They are just right and have prevented me looking permanently sad with downturned corners.

Hope that helps

Sorry, I just put that pic ^ for a laugh. Blush

Basically I would never have it done, and I honestly think that 4 out of 5 don't look great to be honest. The lips look fake, and don't look great. And in my opinion, many women end up looking older with plastic surgery. Very rarely have I seen a woman have collegen in their lips that makes the lips look great. They usually look like they have been punched in the mouth.

Just wanted to add, you will get the majority of women who have had botox and fillers saying it was fab and made them look great, and younger etc, but this is because they think it did. In reality, it very probably didn't.

Any woman I have ever seen who has had collegen or botox (or both!) looks a bit odd. The lips look fake, and they don't look younger. But as I said, they think they do. So asking people who have had it done is going to give you a skewed outlook.

Name changed for this so I can show you photos...

I'm 29, had Botox for the first time in April. Took about a week to get full results, here's my before and after photos below. Loved it but it did wear off faster than I had hoped - within about 7-8 weeks.

I went to a dentist. She barely put any in the outer edges of my forehead as apparently that would have caused drooping of the eyebrows/eyelids which some people above describe. That unfortunately did mean I was left with some lines at the sides whilst the middle of my forehead was clear.

Hope that helps, good luck OP Smile

'Any woman I have ever seen who has had collegen or botox (or both!) looks a bit odd. '
Yes the Kylie's and Meg Ryan's who over do it.
I bet the vast proportion of women who have had Botox you would have no idea. Stick to no more than 20 units in the forehead and 3 lots of 4units in crow's feet and the face still moves just the lines are not as extensive.

27

Well i had it done mid March and it's still not fully worn off yet, I'm just starting to have more movement in my forehead now. The women I used said it lasts between 4-6 months approx.

I'm defo probably going to get it done again in September.

And I know loads of people will say spending £230 on Botox at the age of 27 is pointless but it made me feel 100x better, my lines really bothered me.

Also I could still move my eyebrows abit I just had no lines on my forehead when I did! Amazing.

Also I didn't have it to look younger, I looked my age before and I still look it now but with a lovely smooth forehead! I just seem to be prone to lines on my foreheadSad

It lasted about a month before they started lifting, had to get creative with eyeshadow! as with other posters, eyes were my best feature & I looked (and felt) permanently tired from the eyelid pressure. Also looked like I was scowling grr.
