Men's short sleeve shirts

Are they the most wrong item of clothing ever?

I can't stand them! Wear a t-shirt or wear a long sleeve shirt, not their ugly bastard love child. There possibly one of my biggest turn offs for a man.

There, I've said it! It's off my chest 😂 as you were!

When they are worn with a knitted vest ....

Yes! This! I hate it but love long sleeves rolled up to elbow?!?!

YABU

Short sleeved shirts are more practical, and take less ironing and look smarter.

In general, you're right, but there are always exceptions.

I think they're fine on a man with nice arms...

Depends on time and place.... They're pretty good for working in the jungle, or desert, where it is often ideal to have something very lightweight and cotton.
If we are going to be overly critical of items of clothing, can we please start with polo shirts buttoned to the top? What the actual fuck is that all about? And proper shirts buttoned to the top, but with no tie! NO!

My DH wears them for the office in the summer - practical, cool and easy to iron. He'd look a prat turning up in a T-shirt.

Depends on the dress code. It would be fine where I work.

look smarter

They really don't!

Rolled up shirt sleeves are sexy.

Short sleeve shirts are the polar opposite!

They look much better than long sleeve shirts.

I wear them, often fuck sight more comfortable than t shirts, better availability of styles etc etc

Much prefer them. And frankly a better look than women walking around with their arses hanging out, Smile which seems to be a thing these days!!!!

My DH categorically refuses to entertain short sleeved shirts. He says they are for old men (and he is mid 50’s!). He goes for the rolled up long sleeve look and carries it off rather well i think.

Smarter than a t-shirt. Cooler than a long-sleeved shirt. Sounds good to me. And what's wrong with doing up the top button with no tie? Isn't leaving that one button undone a bit arbitrary?

Report
Toadinthehole · 27/06/2017 10:59

Rolling up sleeves looks messy and requires unnecessary ironing.

YABU. DH can't stand long sleeves, but sometimes wants to wear something smarter than a t shirt, so he has a collection of short sleeve shorts.

He looks great in them and we both love them. I don't see the problem.

Short sleeve shirts are perfectly fine, as long as they are not checked shirts or that awful multi coloured check. Think its more of a younger generation thing its smart but not too formal eg. Wedding evening do

Yeah, what is it with sleeves pushed up to elbows?

I come over like a Victorian gentleman looking at a glimpse of a finely turned ankle.

Nothing wrong with them as long as worn casually and not with a tie!
Rolled up sleeves look scruffy.

There's nothing wrong with them. Actually DH looks nice in them.

Hate them. Makes my dad look like Homer Simpson.

YADNBU I think they are awful...and a little bit creepy. A long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up looks a million times better

They are cooler in the heat than both a t shirt or a long sleeved shirt rolled up
They aren't fashionable for sure but I think men need to reclaim them

DH has some lovely ones, but they are not office-style shirts, just casual, slightly funky shirts. And he has lovely arms.

I agree that short-sleeved shirts worn formally, with a suit, are all kinds of wrong.
