I'll start by saying I am absolutely furious. So bear with angry spelling and grammar.

We are incredibly lucky and live on a marina on a river. It's very beautiful. On the river are temporary moorings for riverboats. This is lovely. Some people have unofficial 'permanent' moorings and have made their gardens pretty and mow the grass. This is nice.

3 weeks ago a shiny new boat showed up directly opposite our house. It's a lovely boat, nice to see out of the window.

Yesterday THEY PUT UP A THREE PANEL OVER SIX FOOT FUCKING FENCE. See pic.

Would I be unreasonable to burn that fucker to the ground and also put a hole in his stupid boat?

We need to see! Contact the marina managers and ask them if it is allowed.

53rdWay · 25/06/2017 19:25

Still no pics showing. Can we have a diagram in the meantime? Grin

1ofthesedays · 25/06/2017 19:25

tempting, but I am not sure the courts would rule in your favour even if they should

Is the boat owner allowed to put the fence? I sincerely hope he's not.

53rdWay · 25/06/2017 19:25

Ah, no - refreshed and there they are!

girlandboy · 25/06/2017 19:25

Well it's not as bad as I thought it would be because the tree covers some of it.

FannyWisdom · 25/06/2017 19:26

On the bank?

AnnPerkins · 25/06/2017 19:28

Complain to the management. If every boat owner did that it would look bloody awful wouldn't it?

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:28

The marina manager will not care. I'm fairly sure of this.

*for Daily Mail and legal reasons obviously I will neither arson nor piracy. This is me venting. I certainly wouldn't tell mumsnet if that was a serious plan. Let's call it poetic license.

Seems very odd! Who owns the land? Does the boat owner have a permanent mooring there?

supersop60 · 25/06/2017 19:29

Is it on your land?

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:30

Yes, right on the bank of the river fanny, apparently next to his decking Hmm

OP posts:
TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 25/06/2017 19:30

well that's just going to blow away in the first light breeze

and "unofficial permanent moorings" ...not certain, but pretty sure that's not allowed...isn't it two weeks max mooring for english waterways outwith an official marina

So do your homework and complain to the right people.

53rdWay · 25/06/2017 19:30

If it's not a permanent mooring then surely they're in the wrong to whack up some fencing?

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:30

Not my land. Riverbank. Definitely not a permanent mooring. There aren't any.

FannyWisdom · 25/06/2017 19:33

Burnt It.
Burnt it with fire.

What sort of bollock brain installs temporary fencing on the bank? Angry

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 25/06/2017 19:33

Think I'd be checking the letter of the law, as mentioned, firmly sure permanent mornings aren't allowed in most cases.

That looks very familiar, it's not Hertfordshire, is it?

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:35

It might be Hertfordshire. I'm not planning on outing myself though Smile

I don't really see what the issue is tbh. Sorry

PreppedForDiagrams · 25/06/2017 19:36

well that's just going to blow away in the first light breeze

I hope it falls on his boat.

Plainlycrackers · 25/06/2017 19:38

If it is on the riverbank rather than in the marina, won't it be under the remit of the Canal & River Trust? They are not shy about fining people for stuff especially overstaying... give them the heads up!!
