Water spray at sports day

Kids sports day tomorrow, 29 degree forecast so I offered to take some water sprays down to cool down the kids. Headteacher said thanks but no thanks, they will be perfectly fine with some drinks and shade. I get it that they don't want interfering parents and fights over who gets sprayed, the staff can manage quite well thank you but I'm actually worried about my kids overheating. AIBU to be offended ?

How many water sprays? I assume the HT envisaged mucking about with water spraying TBH. Hats, water and shade is fine.

Our school cancelled sports day for tomorrow on local councils advice that young kids are kept in 11-1. Also today repeatedly told to drink water and only allowed out for 15mins at lunch. I was quite impressed.

Water sprays would feel nice and cooling but would also interfere with suncream. I wouldn't want my child sprayed but some people would, so the HT would have thought it best to stick with their usual way of doing things.

Yes yabu. unless you're actually volunteering to supervise the kids with the water sprays too it's just creating extra work rather than actually being helpful.
The HT isnt actually obliged to do everything you suggest.

From a schools point of view - no risk assessment has been done on water sprays, they don't know what type, where you got them from, if they are old, have had chlorine water in them, if they are the pump ones, there will be arguments if one or two kids are given them and so on.

I took an aerosol spray and sprayed my own child (we are kind of expected to wander from event to event with the class.)
Issues are:
Everyone wants to be sprayed. Bit of a nightmare.
Washes sun cream off or worse makes it run into eyes.
Kids wanting to spray each other and it turning into a water fight!
At 35 I would worry but 29 in the shade with a drink and a hat on should be fine!

Where do you find cheap water spray?
In France we just buy Evian water sprays at the supermarket for 3-4 euros but here I xan only find them at the pharmacy for 7£!!

I re use an empty toiletries bottle- something like a hair conditioning spray usually has a nice fine mist.

Urubu boots do one thats cheaper than evian. Theres a just water one (that I get) and one with other things in. Not as good as evian imo

Poundland do one called Hydra Mist - £1 (obvs) for 150 ml. Just as good as Evian.
