I have a parking thread! With a note!

Some wanker left this on DP's car.

I will acknowledge, members of the MN jury, that I did not see the car as DP parked it, and therefore cannot provide the all-important diagram (hard stare at DP). But, DP assures me it was in the lines, not taking up a larger space than needed, and basically not parked like a dick. However, today there were about forty zillion 'visitor's permit' cars in the zone we're allowed to park in, plus some illegally parked, and so ours ended up parked further away from home than usual. We reckon whoever has these just hands them out to any cars he (for so I am presuming, with my bitter feminazi heart) sees that he doesn't recognise.

Now, is it me, or is this wankery? And isn't anything that needs to announce it is a 'polite note' therefore, by definition, not a polite note? Also, he's wrong ... the whole car needs to be in the lines. I know, cos I've had a ticket before.

But let's admit it, there must be MNers who secretly wish they had the front to print out actual notes, right?

We used to live on a street with parking like this and getting a note like that would have given the rage big time.
Who the hell do they think they are? 😡

And no YANBU and yes it is wankery.

I thought it was okay as notes go.

Ridiculous. Does the note-writer think everyone parks at the same time? All neat and snug-like? And yes of course the whole car needs to be inside lines. Infuriating and not worthy of a response. Not that you'd know where to respond to.

Someone needs a hobby! Preprinted notes Hmm

It is wanky but I have been known to drive up and down our crappy street shouting "park closer together you fuckers!" However I wouldn't leave a note and you have no way of knowing whether there was a car either side of them to warrant the not brilliant parking. So yeah, ignore.

I wonder if they have a pile of pre printed notes or if they typed and printed this just for your DH.

shock, the thing is, DP says the same cars were there before and after - it's not that someone else moved and left a giant space; it's just there only are three spaces there.

shelagh - you and me both! Grin

It's the fact it comes pre-printed that gives me especial delight.

Could it be that the note writer just put them on every car as it's just a general problem? Maybe nothing to do with your dp's parking at all. That would explain the preprinted note.

Honestly, it annoys the fuck out of me when people use on street parking and waste half the bay by not parking at the ends or leaving loads of space between them and the next car - happens all the time outside my work and parking is very limited.

So I would leave the same note tbh!

decaff, I think so - I think they're putting them on any car they don't recognise.

I can't imagine having the front, but I was also very pleased as I wanted to go straight to MN with it.

I have no life. Grin

roll - yes, that would annoy me too. 'cept, I'm pretty sure DP didn't do that, especially since she was in between two cars ...

A parking thread with a note - bliss!

I find the preface 'polite notice' so irritating and passive aggressive. The recipient of the note decides if its polite.

Report
LRDtheFeministDragon · 12/06/2017 19:33

Quite.

And the tell-tale creases will suggest which way DP went on that judgment call ...

I always assumed "Polite notice" was used deliberately to mislead unwary people in a hurry into thinking it was from the police Grin

I don't think it's that dreadful. He's not saying people shouldn't park there, he's just asking that they park considerately.

We had this thread from the other perspective a few weeks ago! Grin I can't remember if a note was advised but they had a diagram so they're points up on you LRD Grin

Wanky, PA pre-printed note. The whole sentence about parking closer to other cars, how does the PA person know a car wasn't originally parked with adequate space one either side, then one or both cars left and others parked with more space? Is the PA person sitting there with a camera (and need to get a life)?

it'll be some pranny with a teeny tiny car who likes to try and squeeze three smart cars into a space meant for one normal car

Report
zen1 · 12/06/2017 19:39

I don't drive (so won't ever be the recipient of such a tossy note, thank God), but I think it is wankery of the highest order. Drivers should leave adequate space in front and behind when they park in case some dick blocks them in at one end or another.

Tcha. I knew DP wasn't a keeper, bandeau. Honestly. How hard would it have been to snap a quickie?

I think the creases show that DP, having read the wanky note, balled it in his fist and shouted out 'Fuck you asshat" to random houses. Which may have been what I did upon receiving another analagram.

Our neighbour's daughter parks like a twat leaving loads of space between her and the car in front, thus meaning she's taking up two car lengths instead of one. Drives us mad. We'd never say anything but yeah...get a clue you silly girl.

My road is similar, and neighbours get annoyed - though I've never had a note like this! It's not always the fault of the parker of the car though. I don't use my car all that often because I can never park it when I get home and cars each side and beyond move around, sometimes parking closer to mine and sometimes closer to one the other side. So it can appear that mine is badly parked when in fact I originally squeezed into the tiniest space.
