So she's gone, is it really ill health, or do they think she is a massive liability and a vote looser?

I didn't see the interview but so many people were saying she seemed really poorly, both on here and in rl.

I wish her well and hopefully a speedy recovery.

I think she is really unwell. I wish her a speedy recovery.

"I am worried about telling untruths about my health which are easily disproved." - Dianne Abbott in an email.

If true those emails are quite something.

Which emails are these?

She can be both ill and a liability.

Report
Waltermittythesequel · 07/06/2017 09:44

She's likely both. Definitely the latter.

Personally I feel sorry for her.

Professionally she simply couldn't do the job and should have realised that and stepped aside a long time ago.

If she is genuinely unwell, I do wish her all the best.
But there is no doubt she is a massive liability to the Labour party and chance of election success, I bet a fair few people in the party are relived she has gone for whatever reason.

She has been subjected to the most hideous misogynistic and racist smears ive seen in a long time. Poor woman, I hope shes ok

I hope she is OK too. It was clear she was unwell. Sermon Murnaghan said something interesting in that interview about how she was doing interviews without the backing of the labour party. Did I pick that up right?

Bran

I laughed out loud at your post.

Dianne is a massively racist woman who should have been sacked after her 'West Indian mothers' comment.

She's been criticised as a racist, hypocritical idiot who wasn't across her brief and if that had been a middle aged white Tory you would have quite tightly torn him apart.

Get over yourself

I am no fan of DA, but politics aside, can only wish her well. We are all human at the end of the day.

waitforitfdear · 07/06/2017 09:58

Of course we all wish her well.

SerfTerf · 07/06/2017 09:58

Bran maybe there are genuine cross purposes about this? What were the "hideous misogynistic and racist smears"? What were they?

Reading mainstream sources, only doubts about her preparedness and/or memory have been raised.

Report
SerfTerf · 07/06/2017 09:59

Sorry. I mean where were they and what were they?

"She can be both ill and a liability."

Agree

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 10:00

maybe the untruths would be to say that she is OK and can carry on, and then she didnt?

Report
brasty · 07/06/2017 10:01

I and others thought she seemed ill. So yes, I think it is genuine.

Report
Mrsfrumble · 07/06/2017 10:02

I think she's ill. Whatever you think about her politics, she's always been a sharp woman and the change is startling.

The situation reminds me a little of Mo
Mowlam, when she was trashed in the press for "letting herself go" when she was actually terminally ill with brain cancer.

Probably both. It's obvious something isn't right, regardless of whether I agree with her views or not I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Yes I was thinking of Mo Mowlem too.

Mowlem hid the seriousness of her illness in order to get on with work in Northern Ireland - and thank god she did.

With a precedent like that, I can see Abbot thinking she should troop on too.

But I think it's the right decision all round for her to take break. All can be re-assessed after the election.

Everything @Mrsfrumble says

I am not a massive DA fan but the change has been quite sharp.
