Deliveroo Orders for London Hospitals

Does anyone know which hospitals?

I assumed MTCs plus Tommy's?

I am thinking of putting deliveroo orders together for staff at the hospitals so they have easy to eat food (pizza and chips etc)

Message from MNHQ: OP has asked us to update this post, saying Deliver probably not the best idea. However, this is a lovely thread with lots of other great ideas, so we didn't want it to be deleted altogether.

Lovely idea. I'd suggest cold food though.

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 06:52:30

@beepbeepimasheep Thanks! Good thinking - actually for some hospitals deliveroo is quite limited, so I am working through what i can send - it's all 08.30 delivery too but better than nothing.

UnbornMortificado Sun 04-Jun-17 07:04:23

Tiger that's a lovely idea, it wouldn't get thought of as anything suspicious though would it? Like a different sort of attack?

Shit I've felt the need to ask that really sad

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 07:07:10

@UnbornMortificado No, I thought of that too - not shit at all.

I have a bagel order ready for 8.30 for one hospital so I may send it and see. Have written note on deliveroo order fingers crossed

That's such a thoughtful idea Tigershark. I'd just double check that they'll be allowed in as all hospitals near where I live don't permit takeaway food anywhere near clinical areas due to potential listeria list- maybe the NHS website would clarify? (Just don't want to see your lovely act of kindness stopped at the last hurdle!) x

UnbornMortificado Sun 04-Jun-17 07:29:31

I hope it is ok, it really is a fab thing to do.

St Mary’s Hospital, London
St Thomas’ Hospital
University College Hospital
King’s College Hospital
The Royal London Hospital

Confirmed by LAS as hospitals receiving patients (St Thomas's on lockdown I believe so can't receive anything)

After a patient died her family sent in a massive Tesco delivery to the ward. It had cans of fizzy drink, squash, crisps, pot noodle type things, biscuits, fruit, chocolates, cereal bars etc. It was great and was put in the staff room so staff could help themselves whenever they fancied.

Dandandandandandandan Sun 04-Jun-17 08:39:20

This is an amazing idea and I'd definitely want to follow suit if I could.

Would it be worth asking deliveroo head office to help, ie to confirm how they would recommend ordering it, do you think?

MsHippo Sun 04-Jun-17 08:40:12

TigerShark do you know if your bagels got through!? This is a great idea.

Vroomster Sun 04-Jun-17 08:40:42

I've worked in london and we were allowed takeaway food.

Dandandandandandandan Sun 04-Jun-17 08:41:27

The met police would be another deserving recipient maybe? I mean, the unbelievable horror of last night - but from initial call to all 3 perpetrators being shot took 8 minutes, which is pretty astounding. When we run away, they run towards danger, and they must be working hard and long hours too.

ColdCottage Sun 04-Jun-17 08:56:42

Great idea.

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 09:05:47

@Dandandandandandandan absolutely.

There are 15 croissants on the way to St Mary's A & E (had to cancel st thomas order due to lockdown). Not much but as much as I can afford at the moment.

I just can't believe we talk like this about Britain. So sad. Someone the other day said to me they were glad they were born when they were and they would die soon and had seen the best of this country. I feel gutted they felt this way but could absolutely see their point of view.

WhipWhipCrackAway Sun 04-Jun-17 09:10:36

Lovely idea.

BikeRunSki Sun 04-Jun-17 09:14:06

This is a brilliant idea.
I am trying to persuade Deliveroo that I can have an account, even though they don't deliver to my area.

Alwayshungryforcrisps Sun 04-Jun-17 09:17:10

What an amazing thing to do flowers

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 09:24:27

Just cancelled my order. Long story short but I had a massive panic attack about them thinking it was a threat - suddenly got very scared i was making the situation worse. Apparently whilst not on lock down they are under a threat incidence thing (all hospitals, heard second hand)

Deliveroo were awesome and have even refunded me in full (even though I said I did not expect to be refunded...

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 09:24:41

I feel really stupid now!!

JakeBallardswife Sun 04-Jun-17 09:28:16

I think it was a really wonderful thought.

FavouriteWasteofSlime Sun 04-Jun-17 09:28:33

Don't feel stupid it's a lovely thing to do. All the hospitals will have declared a major incident. That's just what it's called when something affecting a large number of people happens.

MelaniaMacron Sun 04-Jun-17 09:30:56

I think it's a lovely idea. Would it be worth checking, though, what food is already available in hospital cafes and shops, and what their stock levels are like? (As in, do they already have croissants in their Costa, are have they still got some?)

TigerShark Sun 04-Jun-17 09:36:38

Thanks - I have no idea about what is available already - another good point.

Horrible that I am assessing my own actions to see if they will be perceived as a threat. I can't actually believe i am doing that.

Maybe we should turn this into the "WE LOVE Emergency services" appreciation thread for last night. I can't believe how fast and professional they were.
