AIBU?

to try to help Europol with child abuse cases?

Europol are asking people to review 20 images of everyday objects to try to get a lead in child abuse investigations. If they can work out the manufacturer or even just the country where something is sold it could be the break they need to track down the perpetrator and rescue the child(ren) at risk.

Please could everyone take a few minutes to look and see if you recognise any of the items? They include things like the logo on a child's pyjamas and a toilettry bottle. There are no children in the images.

As there are Mumsnetters all of the world and many will have children I hoped there was a chance at least that someone would recognise one of the objects.

Hopefully the hive mind of Mumsnet may be able to help them narrow down the country of origin of the objects.

More info here.

Thank you Flowers

Link above is the BBC article explaining it. This is the Europol page with the images.

I recognised one of the products, and worked out what one of the items says (and told them, obv.).

Thank you for sharing!

Ooh well done Star

Hopefully some others will be along before long and may be able to spot some more.

Justjibberish · 01/06/2017 09:16

Recognised the cigarettesBlush and passed on the fruits of my misspent youth, have also shared on FBook. Thanks for posting this

Honeybee79 · 01/06/2017 09:21

I didn't recognise anything either but hopefully the massive mumsnet community will be able to help a bit!

MadameSzyszkoBohush · 01/06/2017 09:28

I couldn't spot anything but just bumping the thread.

wonderingsoul · 01/06/2017 09:38

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 01/06/2017 09:58

fuck me , this is so harrowing. the mix of the mundane and such cruelty

didn't recognise any though

viques · 01/06/2017 10:06

Chilling, that such everyday objects can be linked to such depravity.

Is there anyway this thread can be pinned to the top of all the MN pages for a few days at least?

I recognised one picture so have given the info.

agentdaisy · 01/06/2017 10:22

I only recognised one picture. Hopefully others will be able to recognise more of them than I could.

kaytee87 · 01/06/2017 10:26

Recognised the tatty teddy design. Quite upsetting looking at these pictures but anything that might help should be done.
I will share on my fb page.

waitforitfdear · 01/06/2017 10:32

have looked and feel sick now to think such cruelty. Couldn't recognise anything but will share on fb.

Well done op let's hope these utter bastards are brought to book.

ThomasRichard · 01/06/2017 10:48

What a great idea. The carrier bag looks like a Tesco one. Tatty Teddy on the bodysuit Sad and maybe a TK Maxx over-label on the grey shampoo bottle? I've sent that info in and shared on FB.

Didn't recognise anything but bumping the post.

witwootoodleoo · 01/06/2017 11:52

Thanks everyone.

I understand from what I've read online that often they won't even know what country an image was taken in. So even if something is widely sold in one country, it already narrows down their search significantly, and coupled with other info they have could give a vital lead.

No luck but bumping

superking · 01/06/2017 20:15

I didn't recognise anything but think this a fantastic idea. Thanks OP for sharing it. Bump so that others get a chance to see it.

Almostthere15 · 01/06/2017 20:22

I didn't recognise anything but sharing in case others do

MrsBellefleur · 01/06/2017 20:27

I recognised the tatty teddy and a google image search showed up a swimsuit that was sold in Asda with that same image on (don't know when it was sold but not currently on their website) so I passed that info on and fingers crossed it helps.

WellThisIsShit · 01/06/2017 20:32

I don't think it's a Tescos bag :(

Right colourways but it's got the letters RON on it which don't match up.

I wish I had something positive to add beyond the tatty teddies. God how horrendous it all is. Those poor little children...

WellThisIsShit · 01/06/2017 20:35

I wonder if they can get global and local buyers, marketeers and quail researchers eyes on these images... they see all this stuff every day.

And even if the products are cheap pharmacy products vs big brand products, they will still be familiar with them due to shopping safaris, product banks etc.
