They have it in Australia! I would love to use it! It would make things so much easier For me.

Who else thinks this would be a great idea? I know some people can't use technology, so it wouldn't be helpful for them.

Definitely. I think it would increase votes as well.

I actually quite like the ritual of doing it in person.

Yes, I do everything online.

Yes all the way

I think if the plan is to keep the FPTP then voting should be compulsory in my opinion at least the chosen government would be more representative

It's just become available here in Los Angeles, but I'm not using it yet because I like the ritual of going to the polls.

No, I don't like the idea of it... too much scope for corruption. I think you need to have tangible, physical voting slips that can be recounted/verified by a third party in case of allegations of voting fraud. I also don't like the idea that who you voted for could be traced back to your IP address (though I know the equivalent can happen now in theory with the ballot slips numbered).

Yes, definitely. I'm on holiday on voting day so I've had to faff about getting a postal vote. Online would make it so much easier.

I also like going to the polls but it would be much easier online and I think far more people would vote

It can't come soon enough for me!

Yes. I have postal vote hate the way I'm never quite sure if it's arrived or not. Least at polling station you see it go in the box

No I wouldnt. I get it would be useful for people who cant vote in person though.

There wouldnt be any need to trace your vote back to your IP address. The Tories allowed GCHQ to monitor everything we all do online, all the time.

Doobigetta, so do I.

I hope they don't ever try to introduce online voting, at least not in my lifetime. Just consider the BA debacle this weekend, and think of the chaos if the system went down on the day.

Putting a pencil cross in a box on a piece of paper works. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, IMO.

Yes I'd use it and I think it would increase the number of people voting too.

I'd love it, and I bet it would increase the number of voters too. Can't bear walking past the village elders glaring you into their voting choice outside the church hall

Maybe, but I'd worry about the posibility of it getting hacked. It's a good idea though.

I think it has to be the way forward. I also think that voting should be compulsory.

I agree that voting numbers would be much increased if you could vote online.

My polling station is about a 15 minute walk away. Luckily I can drive and have a car, but I could easily see how it could put people off if they didn't have their own transport and the weather is shitty.

I think its a great idea, but I wouldn't do it. It is a little tradition in our family that we walk to the polling booth with the children and have a chat about what we're voting for and why we vote.
