AIBU?

Nosey children

We live in a terrace which means through access in our back garden. There's a small gate going from ours to neighbours garden.

Their small grandchildren stand on a table and look over the gate into our garden...and directly into our kitchen, which means they watch me in the kitchen. No blinds, it's a very big window and we can't afford it.

I suffer from mild anxiety and this pushes me right over the edge. I don't like being watched!!

I don't want to complain and come over as a grouch; I have small children myself. But this does my head in on a massive scale.

AIBU to be so annoyed? What can i do?

How old are they? I'd go out there and say "It's not polite to stare, please stop looking through my window."

Im afraid the onus is on you to put blinds or curtains on your windows. You can't stop the children from looking in.

It's a bit unusual to feel so anxious about such small children. Are they particularly creepy or do you perhaps need to consider that it is your anxiety, not them?

I don't think you'll be able to stop them, unfortunately.

Have you thought of the plastic/film sheets that you stick onto the inside of the window, which will give you the same light, but just makes the window "frosted"

Something like this, plastic film which imitates frost glass, might help. Doesn't block the light and is fairly cheap.

Can you not install a higher gate so its the same size as the rest of the fence?

I'd just go an politely tell the child not to be rude and to go and play.

Put a voile or net curtains up using an extendable net curtain pole. It's far cheaper than buying blinds.
