To ask if any of you have had a breast augmentation after DCs?

I am looking into breast augmentation after two kids. My whole life I have been very small chested and it has gotten even worse with each pregnancy and breast feeding (completely flat!). I have just recently gotten a consult with a doctor to get more questions answered as far as risks and recovery go.

I am wondering if any of you could tell me your experience with this if you've had one? I may possibly try to have another baby in a few years from now, but would rather not wait as that would be several years until baby can walk and etc... both my kids are now at the point of walking so it will make the recovery period easier with not holding them and so on.

AIBU for contemplating a breast augmentation? I keep going back and forth and wondering if I am being really selfish to consider this. I am married so this procedure would be purely for my(and DHs) satisfaction as I'd still choose to dress modestly in public.. although I know DH wouldn't mind them either! He has told me that he will be happy to support me either way.

No. But I know two women who have, and neither of them is happy with the results. They look ok to me (I've only ever seen them with their clothes on) but they've both told me that they don't like getting naked because of what they look like.

I think it's important to have a realistic idea of what you will get. Google both 'good plastic surgery' and 'bad plastic surgery' images!

I'm having it done next year OP. 7 years of back-to-back pregnancies and breastfeeding have left me with empty sock tits. We can afford it and it'll make me happier. It's my present to myself.

I had mine done last year. I have 2 DCs. It was one of the best things I have done and do not regret it at all. They look great I feel better in myself I went from being totally flat yet slightly droopy (A-B cup) to a nice D cup. I know a lot of people will try and put you off but it is your body and your choice!

I went through a faze of feeling selfish but it has changed the way I feel about my body in a good way. I never use to get undressed in front of my DP and when I breastfed I would make him leave the room. And now I really don't mind him seeing them. You cannot tell they are fake unless you see the scar and people don't even know I had them done because I ALWAYS wore a padded bra.

Just make sure you have plenty of help with your DC during recovery as it is painful and uncomfortable afterward. Also try looking at having the op which includes an overnight stay so you can rest

Thanks guys, I always start thinking the worst possible scenarios since I've had DCs. The Dr has been very reassuring about living through it! Haha! That probably sounds ridiculous and ott - but that is where my mind goes sometimes.

I had mine done last year. I am still very glad I got them done. There are obviously negatives - I have scarring under each one and no feeling at all in my right nipple - but for me, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. I was advised by my surgeon that the procedure would not affect my ability to breastfeed should I want to. It's been 7 months and now I finally feel comfortable in summery clothes, I also feel more in proportion. I only went for a C cup as I had virtually nothing at all. It has impacted my life because I don't even think about them - they feel just natural, and still small for my frame, whereas before I was so self conscious and felt awful in anything that wasn't baggy with a huge padded bra.

So I say, go for it if you can afford to and you are happy to take the risk with regards to scarring and loss of feeling - I feel that making those sacrifices was worth it to me!

I was left with next to nothing after years of breastfeeding and I have an under the muscle 300cc which left me with a nice D cup.

I still look at myself daily and feel really happy about my figure - I hated it before.

The downside is that I have no feeling at all on the underside of my breasts and there is obviously some scarring under my breasts. However the only people to see the scarring are me and DH so it's never bothered me in the slightest. You can't see it in low cut tops, bikinis etc and it's only visible with no clothes on and looking from underneath

I had mine done 18 years ago. Never had a problem with them, the best thing I ever did. The first 10 days after the op they were very painful, but then fine. Oh, and I had mine done under a local anesthetic as I was too scared to have a general.

If you're having just implants behind the muscle, go for it. My midwife said she's seen loads of women who've had that and they breastfeed fine. If you need an uplift as well, wait until you've had your last baby as that is much more likely to affect your ability to breastfeed.

I had an under the muscle, saline procedure 20 years ago. I always had small boobs and they became enormous whilst breastfeeding first 2 kids, then shrank back to shrivelled bags. They would unravel in front of my eyes when I bent to wash my hair over the bath. The doctor advised me to go for a D cup, but I opted for a C and I am very happy with the results. The incision was through the nipple and I have resored feeling in both. Don't feel guilty! I was 26 when I had it done and didn't believe that my boobs would recover naturally. I was also single and lacked confidence to have sex with another man. My BF at the time's mother was dying of breast cancer - that was the biggest guilt trip of all. I have since gone on to have 3 more kids, and breastfed them all! The boobs are still perky and the scar is undetectable. I would say...don't have saline (I am not sure they offer them over here anyway) as they can feel a bit like a Sainsbury's bag full of water. Good luck

I did. Silicon shell, saline filled and went on to breastfeed again afterwards. I didn't opt to go any bigger than I was before. My advice is shop around. Meet consultants, explain what you want and go with the one you feel understands your requirements best.
In terms of self confidence, it was one of THE best things i have ever done.

yes ive had augmentation and lollipop lift about 6 or 7 years ago. I have scarring but no loss of sensation. Im really pleased with the results as they were like empty socks after going from an A cup to a G cup and back down again but with horribly stretched skin. I think they look quite natural

That's amazing, hearing positive stories about it gives me a little more courage to see it through! I'm still trying to decide whether to go with a cc that puts me at a C or D.... I intend on losing 10 more lbs after... so I'm thinking a D as they may lose some weight. Any thoughts on this?? Did yours grow or shrink any when losing/gaining weight?

I am planning a reduction and lift at some point when I have saved the cash. I'm a 32gg. I really hate my boobs and they just look wrong on me. I struggle to buy clothes to fit. They aren't just big, they're droopy and were even before kids.

Do your research and if you want it and can afford it then why the hell not.

I had mine done 14 years ago after DS2. It was the best decision I have ever made, as all my life I had put up with feeling so self conscious at being that flat, the floor was jealous!

I am now around a large B/small C cup and as discussed with the surgeon, we both decided that a smaller implant would give me a lovely natural shape. Because I was so small and under developed to begin with, they would have looked unnatural and ridiculous if I had gone for a bigger implant. Not to mention the risk of complications. I now have a cleavage and can wear swimsuits with confidence. They also don't look fake either.

I have had absolutely no problems or issues with the implants.

This sentence makes me shudder for so many reasons...

But anyway. Sorry to be rude, it just stuck out to me. To your question: I have heard that if you go for, say, a B cup, but get the usual "dome" shaped implant, it will be larger than a natural B because the top part of the breast is also filled in. Does that make sense? So I think the usual advice is to go slightly smaller than you think.

I had it done after I had my first baby. I was flat chested (even at 9 months pregnant) and it really affected how I felt about myself. I felt like a boy and totally unfeminine.

I didn't want to go too big, so went up to a 34B. It really boosted my self confidence.

I then went on to have 2 more children and breastfed them with no problems.

Yes, I had mine done in March. I'm done having children, I've always been on the small side and pregnancies had left the little I did have looking so empty. I'd wanted implants since my late teens, so it wasnt a decision I made quickly. I love them!
The sensitivity has altered (some parts more so, so parts less so) but they look lovely. I had 290cc overs and I'm now between a D/DD. I actually like how I look naked now ;-)
The pain was nothing paracetamol couldn't take away and I had a reluctant-to-walk 18mo.

Motoko- do they change much with the weight gain/loss of pregnancy? I'm pretty set on getting them done now, but have friends that keep telling me I really should wait til done having kids... then many like you that have them tell me that after a pregnancy has only made them more natural and great looking! If I have any more kids it will most likely only be 1 more a few years from now.
