Yes, I was 10 in 1980 so that decade's music is the "soundtrack to my teens"
So many fantastic bands and songs 😁
I did a 6 by 4 foot collage/marbling picture of the cover of Moonlight Shadow for my CSE art exhibition.
So many of the songs from that time, I just have to hear the intro and I am immediately back in time to my teens Grin

I remember too, I was a teenager in the 80s. I still have all my mix tapes from back then up in the attic - but nothing to play them on now. I still play 80s music compilation CDs in the car, and sing along loudly.

littleshirleybeans · 26/05/2017 23:29

I met Ian Donaldson recently. He's every bit as lovely as he was then!

littleshirleybeans · 26/05/2017 23:30

1983 was my year Grin

Destinysdaughter · 26/05/2017 23:30

I've still got my old vinyl from then! Early 80s was fantastic!

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 26/05/2017 23:30

1974 baby here too...I bloody love watching TOTP from the 80's. It was definitely 'my' era. The clothes! The bad miming! The terrible dancing! BUT the songs were, (and still are), so fantastic. My 80's faves:
Dead or Alive
King
Duran Duran
Go West
Wham
Paul Young
Cyndi Lauper
And I bloody loved The Kids from Fame

I was a teen in the 80's and every song holds a memory. I'm so glad I lived through it. I looked forward to Top of the pops on Thursday nights and top 40 on Sunday evenings.

I was playing my dd some Bucks Fizz today. I had forgotten how fantastic 'Land of Make Believe' is.

I know I sound old and cruddy, but today's music is just so bland on the whole. I like a proper tuuuuuuune!

elephantoverthehill · 26/05/2017 23:32

'Dear Prudence' was a cover - Beatles I think.

SynysterGates · 26/05/2017 23:33

Another 1974 baby - SexandDrugs has just described my iPod Grin.

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 26/05/2017 23:36

Ooooohh Bucks Fizz!! My very first 7" single was The Land of Make Believe - played it on my little mono record player in my bedroom on a loop. I still remember them winning Eurovision - the excitement!

SynysterGates · 26/05/2017 23:36

and now my george is on
I had a poster of him above my bed in my bed sit.......

80's music is heavenly & instantly uplifts my mood.

Music at the moment is total shite.

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 26/05/2017 23:37

Lol Asmoto , my DD thinks my music library is beyond the pale!

BeeThirtythree · 26/05/2017 23:37

Born in '81 but it was a good decade for music!
First 'record' I had was 'Kylie and Jason'...my 'Delinquents' soundtrack cassette was also a personal fave...
I valso had the Jive Bunny record though... don't judge!

World Apart, Brother Beyond and NKOTB back then although now and growing up it's the '80's tunes that get me singing...Oh I love a power ballad

SynysterGates · 26/05/2017 23:38

Argeles its ok if you go metal, but other than that is seems to be dull.

OP posts:
SynysterGates · 26/05/2017 23:42

i have just worked out what NKOTB is lol

I don't remember much of the 80s, but when I was a teenager in the late 90s I loved German. Anything German. So I loved Amadeus by Falco.

I like a lot of the other music though, my sisters are 10 and nine years older than me and Juan really loved Roxette, she's got the look. So I like that one. You spin me round by dead or alive. One night in Bangkok? Was that the 80s?

mrsglowglow · 26/05/2017 23:54

My Era! My dd 12 is a big fan but my son not so much. I was 10 in 1980 and just hearing a song from back then I can mostly recall what year it was and what I was up to. I feel old as I hear myself too often saying all this current stuff sounds exactly the same. Artists from the 80's had their own sound and many different styles.

BorisTrumpsHair · 27/05/2017 00:03

New Order
style Council
The Cure
The Police
Neil Young
Kate Bush
Prince
Madonna
Eurythmics
Run DMC
Sugar hill Gang
Grandmaster Flash.
De la Soul
Queen Latifah
Salt n Peppa
Tom petty.

The list goes on and on.

Plus we had "old shit" from 70's and 60's to enjoy too.
