AIBU?

DP and a football match...

Just after some opinions.

Me and DP have been together for a year, and it's a long distance relationship. Last saw each other about ten days ago when I drove down and back (540 mile round trip) in a day to go to a football match with him.

He was surprised today with two tickets to the FA Cup Final, and had planned to go and watch this in a pub with his best mate (who he House shares with) Best friend has been to Wembley many times, doesn't support the team in question and then there's me who loves watching said team play (with the whole last trip showing this) and has never been to wembley.

So guess who he has invited. I know it's a long drive, but I would've gave anything to go to that game! AIBU?

Have you asked him why?

But he had made arrangements to watch game with friend so I guess that why the friend was asked and not you, if he asked you then he would be bailing on friend

I can see both sides here tbh.

If my best mate had arrangements with me to watch a game and suddenly dropped me for her boyfriend when she got a couple of free tickets, I'd be pretty miffed!

If I was planning to watch something with a friend, then got the chance to do it in person instead.. I would invite the person I was planning to watch it with.

If you enjoy it, why weren't you watching with him?

I can understand the bailing on a friend too, however it's also his birthday tomorrow too and I'm not going to see him because he's spending the day with his friend.

So I'd love to have had my first visit to a Wembley to see a team I love and be with him on his birthday but I guess it's not meant to be!

Thank you for the AIBU. I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong!

Do you support Arsenal or Chelsea?

I wasn't in the first place as I live in the North-East, he's in London and we have our next date planned in June. Obviously going to Wembley would be a special occasion and something we'd enjoy - he wouldn't drag me down there to sit in a pub all afternoon with him. But to actually witness it would've been great - and why I did the 540 mile round trip in a day just to go and watch a game last week.

So you also live miles away from him, you already did the trip last week and you have plans to see him in June?

Yeah, YABU, especially with the new information. He wasn't to know that you would want to make the trip again so soon..

YABU - he already had plans with someone else. It would be a bit shitty if he dropped his mate for you.

But in the meantime, you drove that far in a day just to see him? I hope he does the equivalent in travel to see you.

Like I said, I'm fully willing to admit if I'm being unreasonable. Which I am, so that's fine, I'll not mention it to him at all.

Yabu, that's his best friend, they had plans, he got a surprise change of plans so took best friend with him. To dump his friend and invite you would have been a very dickish thing to do.
