AIBU?

To think "show me show me" is the creepiest program ever?

Two fully grown adults using teddies and stuff to pretend to play? It isn't so cringe to watch. There aren't even any children, just adults doing imaginative play.
Am I the only one that finds it hard to watch?

YABsoU, I loved it when mine were little, it's a lovely gentle show. Are Chris and Pui still on it?

Sleeperandthespindle · 26/05/2017 06:23

I think it's great as TV for small kids goes.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 26/05/2017 06:26

I'm with you op I hate it and make it bearable by imagining between takes that they hate each other and make horrible remarks a la Human Traffic: "die!"

Hmmalittlefishy · 26/05/2017 06:30

, YABU. Show me show me is one of the best cbeebies programmes. It's gentle and fun not loads of technology no made up words and a bit of learning. I think I love it more than the dc! Grin
It reminds me of play school
Sorry zigzag bit I think Chris is godfather to pui children

FriedEggs1 · 26/05/2017 06:30

ZigZag Grin

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought this show is odd! They seem to have a language all of their own and speak in such a weird way.

Jollypirates3 · 26/05/2017 06:32

Yanbu just watched it. Opened mumsnet to distract me!

GorgeousPie · 26/05/2017 06:36

I really like it Blush I'm quite sad my DD has moved on from it!

luckylucky24 · 26/05/2017 06:36

Yes it may be good for the kids but as an adult is is awful to watch.
So is that other one. It's on in the afternoon and they dress up and become something else. Cringe!

Aah, this was dd's favourite and we used to sing the songs!

WellErrr · 26/05/2017 06:39

Do you mean 'Let's Play!'?

YANBU.

sparklefarts · 26/05/2017 06:48

Oh show me show me AWFUL! Chris and Pui are creepy!

It's joint worst programme ever along with overly fake and middle class Topsy. And Tim. The parenta in that make me want to scratch my eyes out

pictish · 26/05/2017 06:50

It's based on the popular Play School from our day, isn't it?

As kiddy shows go I always thought it was one of the better ones.

luckylucky24 · 26/05/2017 06:52

Yes Well- let's play is just as bad!

Yanbu. Show me show me is the best. It's obvious they're not playing in the garden for the hell of it, just to give young children a starting point for their own imaginative play. And there are children in it, or who would do the groovy moves?

GeekyWombat · 26/05/2017 07:03

I always imagine the woman in Let's Play being someone who went to theatre school and sits in her dressing room between takes going 'I'm classically trained you know!' She just takes those accents a little too seriously.

DD and I may have got our own 'Let it be me... Let it be me...' dance routine worked out for such occasions though. I'm quite proud of it, although our best is Go Jetters where she does some classic 70s disco moves while I do an I think pretty good Ubercorn impression.

I miss being able to have Sky News on in the background during the day. Thank goodness for the odd Chris Evans / James McAvoy bedtime story. I think it's payback for the other stuff!

Mothervulva · 26/05/2017 07:05

Oh I like it. It's sweet.

TheStoatIsStoatallyDifferent · 26/05/2017 07:09

YADBU I love show me show me! I thinks it's great the way it shows kids how to use their imagination.

I do agree that let's play is creepy though

SemiNormal · 26/05/2017 07:09

I'm with you op I hate it and make it bearable by imagining between takes that they hate each other and make horrible remarks a la Human Traffic: "die!" - You might be onto something there Grin Wink

DonaldStott · 26/05/2017 07:13

Ahhh dd used to love show me show me. We went to see them live Grin

Oshbosh · 26/05/2017 07:14

I can take or leave it. But Pui cannot sing! She's so montone! I never know whether it's her real singing voice or not!

hellokittymania · 26/05/2017 07:20

I have never seen it, but it sounds a bit like Mr. Rogers neighborhood, which was very popular in the US in the 90s and I think before that. So, I would probably like it.

Grin i do wonder why they chose someone who can't sing for a programme which is about dancing playing and singing for kids osh.

I quite like show me show me. It uses imagination and it's just people and toys. I like sid lets play.

Cannot abide topsy and tim. DD (3yrs) loves it though so it stays on. She hates Furchester Hotel and Justins House - they get turned off. Makes me laugh Grin

MrsBadger · 26/05/2017 07:25

I loved it; it's so well paced and the activities use so few resources (cf bloody Mr Maker: 'just take five washing-up sponges in different colours and cut them all up')
Also I liked that they 'lived' in an upstairs flat and couldn't always play outside.
I thought it was excellent, one of my favourite things to watch with dcs when they were little (also it's nice and long!)

ZaZathecat · 26/05/2017 07:28

Oh it's on CBEEBIES .

I honestly thought you were talking about an adults programme, and yes, with the rubbish that's churned out these days I believed it.
