Not being offered drink in hairdressers

Had hair done yesterday in local salon, there for nearly 2 hours. Wasn't offered a drink once. I've been offered tea/coffee before and I see it as all part of the 'pampering' experience you expect at a hairdressers. Should I have asked for one?? I felt embarrassed about it so didn't. But 2 bloody hours!! I still feel quite miffed about it.

I'm the opposite - I hate having a drink at the hairdressers! I feel awkward leaning forward and backwards to get the cup, and even drinking can be tricky while someone is trying to make sure that both sides of your hair are level

First world problems ... (grabs popcorn)

araiwa · 25/05/2017 16:39

if you want a drink go to a bar or cafe

i go to the salon to get my hair done

Katedotness1963 · 25/05/2017 16:39

I'm trying to remember if I got offered last time I went...I don't think so. I always say no anyway.

MaidOfStars · 25/05/2017 16:40

I will only frequent salons that offer Prosecco....

Wolfiefan · 25/05/2017 16:41

If you wanted one you should have asked. Not every salon will offer you a drink.

CarmenWedmore · 25/05/2017 16:41

Seriously... some of you go to salons that don't offer you a drink???

Yanbu.
I agree - costs them virtually nothing and makes a big difference to the whole 'experience'.

SaltySalt · 25/05/2017 16:41

My pal who owns a salon offers tea or coffee on arrival and does processco in the summer and hot choc and Baileys at Christmas! Fab ☺

Bambambini · 25/05/2017 16:41

I thonk it's good customer service and good PR to offer a drink. Lived elsewhere where a drink and head massage were the norm - even in more run of the mill joints. Little things matter- and nice loos!

mustiwearabra · 25/05/2017 16:43

Honestly most hairdressers get about 10 minutes in between clients to wolf down a sandwich. Probably dehydrated themselves in this heat plus hairdryers and just forgot. Just ask.

Whatisitnow101 · 25/05/2017 16:43

Depends how much you spent at the salon?

gleam · 25/05/2017 16:43

You get used to it, if you're normally offered a drink. I rarely go to the hairdresser so having a drink there is part of the pampering, if you like. Along with that weird head massage thing they do when they wash your hair.

CarmenWedmore · 25/05/2017 16:44

That sounds like my kind of salon, salty. Considering you can be in there for a while, surely it's just good customer service, as bambabini says. Especially in hot weather!

I don't go to the hairdressers any more i use a mobile at home one like twice a year, but never understood the drink thing, hair dropping everywhere, awkward leaning forward to drink it while they're fiddling with your hair Confused

bbcessex · 25/05/2017 16:47

Posh drink and a tiny biscuit is definitely part of the experience. You were robbed... ask for a refund!!!

Musicaltheatremum · 25/05/2017 16:47

My hairdresser used to be on my business route. Used to roll out after a couple of glasses of wine. Have to drive there now. Shame.

bloodyuselessme · 25/05/2017 16:48

I went to one, I waited forty five minutes before they saw to me as they were running late and then it took over four hours. No drink offered. Felt like waltzing to the coop in my foils

FuzzyCustard · 25/05/2017 16:49

Oh I'd quite forgotten that some hairdressers do this. Obviously mine doesn't. I quite forgot to be bothered!

DonaldJBottyburp · 25/05/2017 16:50

My hairdresser is constantly on the vino so there is never a shortage of drinks.

FrenchMartiniTime · 25/05/2017 16:51

I'm totally with you OP.

I've been to a London salon that asks if you want something to drink and then adds the cost of it to your bill. Even water is charged for!

OllyBJolly · 25/05/2017 16:52

mine will get you a sandwich if you're there over lunchtime! Tea, coffee, shortbread and sometimes wine and sparkly.

JaneEyre70 · 25/05/2017 16:53

Mine offers you a drink as soon as you've booked in!! Then they offer repeatedly, and they have a pretty darned decent coffee machine so I really look forward to it. I come home wired after 2/3 coffees and attack the house like the duracell bunny on speed Grin
