AIBU?

to be fed up of this aggressive baking

DH comes home at least once a month with yet another bakery offering from a woman he works with. I don't get when this became a thing? He defends it by saying how 'nice' it is and that she just likes 'making cakes' but I find it fucking odd and it really irks me.

To be honest I am queasy over other peoples baked goods- and I am sick of seeing her brownies seeping over my work surfaces. I don't get it at all and it boils my piss that DH cant see that it is WIERD. Why do people think they need to invest the time (and expense!) into feeding them their foul cakes? Its not like my DH is ill or thin, he is pretty robust.

Do you find this woman a threat?

So someone is being nice and friendly?

I am failing to see an issue at all.

Is she trying the old way to a man's heart is through his stomach trick or is she sending him home with family cakes??

Wow - sounds like a massive overreaction to me! Don't eat them if you don't want them, but why get so annoyed?

Your reaction is much more weird than the baking imo. And I don't bake!

Blimey...

Talk about over thinking things.

It's not weird. I've taken cakes the kids have made into work befire as I didn't need them all at home.

Maybe she just enjoys baking and her husband/wife is also a miserable git so she brings then in for people who seem to appreciate them.

HmmGrin
Why are they "foul"? You sound like you have anger issues to be honest op. Don't eat them or put them in the bin. If your DH wants to accept and eat the cakes that's up to him.

They like baking. There's nothing aggressive in it. It's not weird.

You sound rather odd. Brownies don't seep. And in the unlikely event they do, put them on a plate or in a tin. Problem solved.

YABU. Bizarrely.

Do you work in an office? This is pretty standard in an office in 2017. There's usually someone (or five) who likes to make cakes or biscuit and bring them in. And encourage people to take them home if they aren't eaten.

You have unresolved issues about something else to do with your DH's work. You are transferring.

It's really not weird Confused

You sound very angry and I'm guessing there is a back story the length of the Great wall of China.

Is she baking specifically for your DH or is he just bringing home extra that she has brought to share?

Giving cakes to people at work to take home is odd.

Bringing cakes into work to be eaten at work is not odd.

Being queasy over other people#s baked goods is also odd.

I wonder if Channel 4 Bake Off will have a round called Aggressive Baking?

Some people just love to bake and if they didn't give it all away they'd end up the size of a bus. Your DH obviously has no issue with accepting and eating the stuff so leave him alone to enjoy it. No one is forcing you to eat any. To make a fuss about it when it really doesn't affect you if very strange.

what are you so angry about - do you think she is flirting with him

And why do other peoples baked goods make you queasy

Am I the only one that thinks this is wierd then?? I admit I dont like cake at all and I am baffled by the current obsession with it, but unless there is an occasion why ON EARTH do you keep making cakes for people?

I am genuinely asking. Why?

Why not?

Just don't eat them.

Most people quite enjoy a bake sale at work.

Wow.
Is she just making cakes for your dh or for the office in general?
I've never heard an attitude like yours towards baking. I think you need to take a deep breath and read back your own post.

Sounds like you are worried she fancies him! If you don't see any threat at all then just don't eat the cakes, problem solved! It would look really rude on his behalf if he said no to taking some of them home

Report
TheWitTank · 20/05/2017 09:01

Because they like baking? Like any other hobby?

I used to bake a lot and palm them off one anyone who would have them. I find baking very relaxing and love to do it, I don't see the big deal.

Oh dear, if feeding people baked goods in the office is some sort of signal, I've tried to have a LOT of affairs with my colleagues.

Must come clean to DH...

Maybe she's being nice?

If you don't want it, don't eat it.

As for the why, like cats said it's quite relaxing!
