Reading the post about people being unable to whistle - that makes me happy as whistling really gives me a pain in the head. Not being able to skip now makes me unhappy. We all used to love it. Who can still do it now?

Do you mean skipping with a rope, or skip-de-skip-de-skipping down the road?

I can, but the independently moving stomach (out of time with the rest of my body) means I don't as I'm too shamed by how fat I am!

Salad skip-de-skipping down the road. I liked skipping with a rope but it's not the same type of enjoyment as skip-de-skipping down the road or absolutely anywhere you want to

Have you forgotten? I skip fairly regularly with small children, maybe this has kept it in my memory?

It just feels strange now. Maybe I should skip everywhere I go to make it feel normal again?

Ginkypig Fri 19-May-17 00:53:59

No, you can skip you just choose not to!

Embrace your want to skip and anyone who looks strangely at you can get stuffed

I skip all the time. I even skipped down the office this week.

Just practice and get it back. I bloody love skipping

DH and I sometimes skip down the road together. Generally when none of our dc are around (unless we really want to embarrass them grin)

I like to have a wee skip now and then, it's quite a joyful way of travelling! You just need to practice a bit, that's all grin

Skipping is brilliant. When my teenage dc was depressed he swore that skipping was the best anti-depressant in the world, said you couldn't skip and feel sad simultaneously.

I think we should make skipping a thing for grown ups.

I bet it burns more calories than jogging.

I sometimes enjoy a little skip when I have picked up my youngest from school on a Friday, especially if it is a sunny day. There seems no better way to express the joy of it being the start of the weekend!

Totally skip here . With or with out kids... get slightly fewer stares with kids..

McDougal Fri 19-May-17 07:08:26

Skipped just yesterday after not doing it for a long time and it was brilliant!

I was with 4 year old DD which made it feel a little less embarrassing. I must get back into the habit as it made me feel great.

This is the most heartwarming thread! I need to get out of bed in a minute, I might skip to the bathroom grin

Nquartz Fri 19-May-17 07:11:27

I love skipping with DD and so does my mum. It feels like being a kid again!

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban Fri 19-May-17 07:12:20

OK so I'm the only person who thought this was about a prolapse then?

Walking vs Skipping

OculusReparo Fri 19-May-17 07:34:04

I often skip even if people give me weird looks I tell myself that they're just jealous

Besides, the more of us who skip in public, then there might be a chance it becomes as normal as walking.

One can only live in hope tbusmile

Thanks all for the messages. I'm going to promise to attempt to skip to the shops later. I might have a practice in the house first. Think I'll lock the cat up for its own protection.

HalfPintPixie Fri 19-May-17 10:25:46

OculusReparo that's the first thing that came to my mind too! gringrin

Ok so I went to the shop the long way round through the park and attempted to skip and terrified a man and his dog.

Decided to try again on way home from pub. Asked taxi driver to drop me top of the road. I tried and failed but have now been reminded of the other wonderful childhood memory- gravel grazed knees.

Me and skipping are officially done!

As long as I can still gambol I'm OK.
