There have been two only today that I've clicked on - and nearly had a heart attack seeing some of the NNs, before realising it was a zombie thread.

I think there should be a warning in the title of posts over 6 months old so you don't even have to bother clicking them. Or maybe the first post could have a shadow outline image of a zombie behind the text or the background is changed to black with white writing. Something to alert the readers and not waste their time. The alert that it is old needs to be in the on the first post, the title AND the reply text box.

And the OP should be in a different colour so I don't waste my time thinking about a house the OP wanted to buy 10 years ago.

People who go around bumping zombie threads won't notice or care about zombie warnings. They clearly have no idea how to use the forum or are doing it for fun anyway, so the only way to stop it from happening is to lock the threads after a certain time period.

I've also suggested this loads but it never happens.

I met myself commenting on the grey hair thread.

HQ have been saying for ages that Tech are trying to sort out the user problem. They took away the ZOMBIE! message because it was apparently upsetting newbies but surely the answers are either locking threads or having a nice friendly message, both at the top and in the posting box, suggesting starting a fresh thread?

Newbies are just going to get more upset if they think they're doing the right thing & find themselves surrounded by a lot of pissed-off posters shouting ZOMBIE! at them.

This is true whisk, but at least a good sprinkle of zombie warnings will enable readers to avoid them and they'll drop back out of sight.

I think it would be a shame to block threads altogether. Although i guess if someone had an update they could always just link to the blocked original.
