You are not fat and nasty.

3 months is still time to make a difference. Can you exercise?

Fruitcorner123 · 14/05/2017 22:51

A practical answer would be to ring the airline and discuss this with them. They may have seats with more space they can offer you.

But for your health's sake please do talk to a GP anyway and address your diet.

You feel crap now but you can change things for yourself.

Exante diet. 3 months could be 4/5 dress sizes starting at a size 30👍

I'm so sorry, you must be really worried. I wouldn't recommend it normally, but you could try a VLCD for three months with the potential to lose 3 stone in that time. It might give you a boost.

Willyorwonte · 14/05/2017 22:52

Oh that's crappy for you.
3 months you say? What sort of diet are you talking/thinking of doing?

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 14/05/2017 22:53

You can make a big, positive change in 3 months. Can I recommend Slimming World if you haven't already tried it? Also second pp who suggested to ring the airline to discuss it with them

That sounds really rough op. If slimming world worked before, I'd do that again.

I agree, it's worth contacting the airline. You won't be the first person they've helped with this issue before.

I'm a size 22 and I can just about fit in an easyjet seat without discomfort. I think a size 24 would be OK, just a bit of a squeeze. Less budget-end airlines are probably an inch or two bigger so make that 24 for comfortable and 26 for squeezed in - which airline is it and how long is the flight? You will do better if you set you goal to be modest and achievable.

I second slimming world. A good friend has lost 15% body weight in 4 months with them and looks great. From your starting point you could lose quite a few stone in 3 months. I do still say get a GP's support. Sorry to hear about the abuse and glad you're are getting therapy. There will be a solution and things will look brighter in the morning.

You are not fat and nasty. Fat, yes. But that can be dealt with. Nasty, no. Your concern here is ruining a family dream holiday. Its easy to say, and harder to do, but being kinder to yourself will help you along a lot.

No, you won't be a size 10 by the time you go away but positive proactive things to help you move forward from here. Two things you can do this week to make a difference - call the airline and set yourself a goal of walking for at least half an hour every day - more if you can manage it. You'll feel better for it, I swear.

Ps I am fat so can relate on that score . Even if I can't get control of my eating I can always drink more water and go for a walk ....

Are you travelling with children? Just make sure you're in the aisle or window seat, put smallest child next to you, raise the arm rest and ask for a seat belt extension. You'll be fine.

Report
Bostin · 14/05/2017 23:13

It's good you can exercise as this will help to lose cms and get you more room. 6 stones in a year is amazing.

Report
colourfull · 14/05/2017 23:15

you will be fine, ask for seat extension belt as you board the plane, sit with a child either side of you and you will be fine, you will not get the tray down but you can do without that .
if there is any chance of you upgrading to extra leg room do it, and if going long haul price up going premium class, there is loads and loads of room in there. I am size 30 too and go abroad every year, long and short haul.

💐 you're not nasty. The bastards that abused you are nasty! Be kind to your inner child. People hurt you and so you want to hide your body & protect yourself from being hurt again. It's a normal reaction. It's good you're getting therapy, but it's hard. You're dealing with so much 🙁💐

I think you need to stop worrying about your weight. Focus on getting well, both emotionally & physically. I think 'a diet' might well push you over the edge right now.

Try to eat well, sleep well & move. Try to get fitter so you enjoy your holiday more and try to find things other than eating that comfort you. It's not easy I know, eating shoves down other feelings.

You are presumably flying with your family, so you'll be fine. Sit between them, or on the aisle with one of them next to you and you'll fit just fine. The extension seat belts are huge and with family next you, you, it won't be a problem.

Where are you going?

Exante VLCD. 3 shakes a day. They taste good and are cheap. It's very doable.

OR just buy 2 seats.

Buy 2 seats if you're v worried and can afford it ? Xx

Report
AnnieAnoniMouse · 14/05/2017 23:32

Be careful with the extra leg room. Lots of those seats are emergency seats and you can't sit in them if you need an extension belt. Call the airline and they'll check the seats for you. If there are 4 of you, they can out you in a row of 5 and grey out one seat. It might end up getting filled, but it'll be one of the last seats they'll fill.

When you get to the airport go to the help desk/customer services for your airline and double check your seats, they can move things around if necessary.

Try not to worry about the flight, focus on your therapy & general well being.

Or get premium economy for slightly bigger seats ?
