DH picked a shirt from my Next catalogue and I went to pick it up for him. He was at work. So I sent him a picture and said I'd picked up his little shirt (it was for a night out). His mate saw the message and laughed at him and later on sent him a photo of the shirt we was wearing for the night out and said "here is my little tattoo showing shirt".

DH says I've made him a laughing stock but the Dawn doctor often picks up clothes etc for her DH and he doesn't react like this.

Picking it up isnt the issue. Texting him you had picked up his 'little shirt' is.

He's not annoyed that you picked up the shirt, he's annoyed that you called it little and his mate saw it. I also don't know what a Dawn Doctor is.

And what's tattoos got todo with it?
As for the banter I accidentally done something similar ,with my old man in front of his mate and he was ripped for a few weeks he survived . !
