To not wash my bra very often

DD asked me how often she should wash her bra and I realised, with horror that I never wash my bras about once a month. I have 3 so that's about 10 wears per wash. They seem clean - boobs are clean right?

I washed my maternity bras constantly.

How often should a bra be washed?

That's really gross. 10 days of the same fabric rubbing against your skin is objectively dirty, even if you aren't very sweaty, and most women will sweat round their breasts.
I don't wash mine after each wear unless the weather is hot but every 2-3 days at the most.

OP I do the same. Washing twice a week would ruin them in no time.

Freyanna Sat 13-May-17 13:57:15

Every day.

Cocklodger Sat 13-May-17 13:57:37

But they're near your arm pits? And boob sweat?
Surely you shower or bathe more often, why put something dirty back on? confused

Crispbutty Sat 13-May-17 13:58:15

Ew... that's quite grim. I change mine daily. I wash them once a week.

harderandharder2breathe Sat 13-May-17 13:58:36

About once a week but i used to just do it when they smelled

Despite having a drawer full of bras, I seem to only like about two at a time, so will ear often 3 or 4 times before washing. That said, I'm not very sweaty at all and shower each morning.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sat 13-May-17 13:59:18

I change mine every 3days. Don't worry OP, you're not talking about your knickers 😄

user76895432 Sat 13-May-17 14:00:09

My bras are washed every 4 or 5 wears. Washing them after every wear would ruin them.

NavyandWhite Sat 13-May-17 14:00:48

I never understand this. Surely bras are like knickers! They need changing everyday.

tinydancer88 Sat 13-May-17 14:01:14

I wash mine every 2/3 wears. Apart from sports bras which get washed every wear as I swear 90% of my sweat is in the boob area. It's gross.

ScarlettFreestone Sat 13-May-17 14:01:16

But, but, but they must smell surely?

In answer to your question, I wash them every wear.

ScarlettFreestone Sat 13-May-17 14:02:15

Regarding the "washing them too frequently would ruin them" argument - just buy more bras!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners Sat 13-May-17 14:02:17

I'm with you OP. I wash pants and tights after every wash but not bras.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners Sat 13-May-17 14:03:12

Every wear. Not every wash.

Iamastonished Sat 13-May-17 14:04:18

I wash mine probably about 3 times a week. I always put them in the wash when I have been doing a fitness class because I have to peel them off to remove them - ie I got very sweaty.

gamerchick Sat 13-May-17 14:04:23

But they're handwash only, how do they get ruined if they're washed often? confused

IamADalek Sat 13-May-17 14:05:06

Every day they soak up sweat? Sorry but that sounds a bit gross

NavyandWhite Sat 13-May-17 14:05:22

I only handwash certain ones. Everyday bras go in the machine.

Iamastonished Sat 13-May-17 14:06:13

Mine aren't handwash only. I just throw them in the washing machine. They don't get wrecked.

MaryShelley1818 Sat 13-May-17 14:08:08

Same as you OP! I shower every day, wear deodorant and have never yet had a 'smelly' bra. I do think some people sweat more and have much stronger odours though so maybe I'm just lucky?!
Never had to hand wash a bra either.

Shewhomustgowithoutname Sat 13-May-17 14:08:10

I cant understand anyone who would put an already worn item on. Surely we all have a bath or shower every day. It would follow then that clean clothes would be put on. I only have one wear before wash.

LittleBooInABox Sat 13-May-17 14:08:49

I was mine, once every week, on a push every two weeks. I tend t have three I use. I have big boobs, so finding a bra that is comfy and fits and doesn't mean I need to sell my first born, is hard.

* Surely bras are like knickers! They need changing everyday.*
- Nope. Not nearly the same thing. Last time I checked my bra's aren't wet when I take them off!

Palace2 Sat 13-May-17 14:08:51

Every day, they're underwear why wouldn't you wash them after every use? Only 3 bras?
