AIBU?

To ask for the tv to be removed from the wigwam?

Hmm

Camping trip okayyyy , wigwam, more like, glamping ?

DP and I Taking our toddler boys glamping for 3 nights next Friday! Glamping, well, staying in a ready made wooden tent with heating, a kettle, a microwave and a TV!!!
Sorry, AIBU to ask the site to remove the television from our wooden ready made TENT (wigwam)

When I booked it, my partner (father of my DC) and I were not in the best place, relationship wise. Probably due to the pressures of day to day life, having virtually f@&k all in common and never talking or spending time together. Because why would we??? There's a TV, a tablet, mobile phones and an I pad!!!! ( I couldn't live with out them now) but I do blame the F*#kers on the amount of relationship issues these days!!

Before I completely go off track, when I booked this GLAMPING trip I thought 💭 Okay, family time, time we talk, listen, laugh, play and use our imaginations and feel what it should feel like without all of these distractions day to day! I genuinely did not expect the wigwam to have a tv and I suppose in a way it's fab as most people these days would be lost without it!! However, the purpose of this trip for us is to get the F#*k away from the Now normal, day to day, SHIT 😤🤓😂 views pls x

DP appalled at my suggestion Hmm Grin x

You are allowed to swear on MN.

Just don't turn the TV on?

😂
Thanks, well I feel if it's there, my DS 4 and 1 will be upset and it could put a downer on things 😩 And the easiest option will then be to just put it on!!

Hide the control and claim it isn't working! I'm sure they'd remove it if you asked.

Well, if you want to do proper camping, you shouldn't have a microwave, heating and a kettle either.

Just unplug the telly and tell them it's broken.

MorrisZapp · 12/05/2017 23:14

We stayed in a b and b once which had no telly. Fucking ghastly.

We both just sat there. Breathing.

Grin Grin I know, the heating is cheating as is the kettle and microwave 😂 I might get them to remove them too lol!!

I just thought that a ready made tent could save us some so we can spend quality time together 😂

Plus I wouldn't know what to do with a tent!! But if we get through this, maybe at the end of it we will still be a family and we might do the full shebang next time Smile x

YANBU

Whenever I took the kids camping I used the electric hookup and had a kettle, lights, heater etc. But no TV, otherwise you might as well stay at home!

And part of the romaticism of camping is the fact that you are spending time together without distractions surely? One of the nicest things we ever did was drag the kids out of bed at 1am to look at the stars because where we were in Europe had hardly any light pollution and we could see the swirls in the milky way, it was incredible.

But if we had been sat inside watching TV instead of outside getting steadily pissed on red wine, we would never have known it was there.

Take batteries out of remote and pretend you've not seen them

:o at "breathing"

Breathing can be so fucking annoying when certain people do it, especially if they are mouth breathers.......

God, stay in a hotel. What's the point of central heating, running water, electricity p, wifi, tv... in a wigwam??

Lol, breathing is a great point, AIBU to take earplugs 😂😂🤔

I'm loving ur story Pyong, i hope experience star gazing with 4YO. He is so amazed by everything just now, tV would destroy that!!! Lol, if I said no batteries, 4YO would be like, I've got and idea, use the batteries from the torch, we don't need it as we have lights! 😂X

YANBU. We love camping precisely because it makes the kids interact with us and play family games rather than everyone disappearing off to separate rooms as we do at home. They seem to enjoy it too.

We always have electric hook up so also have the kettle etc. I think you can be excused these luxuries Blush

Definitely get them to remove the tv and think about using a BBQ rather than the microwave.

Aww I know, although, toilets are shared and no running water 🤔 I would happily trade the tv in for such tho!! 😃🙈

Had a friend who was tormented by an ex who constantly occupied his 5 year old with the TV. She drove off with the remote one day and threw it out of the car window on the way home. So yes she's bad because she littered but I thought it very amusing!

Just email them asking if there are any wigwams without TV's, they might offer to remove one for you. I agree the point of camping is to go a bit back to nature (though keep the heating and kettle!)

Thanks right!! Yes there is a barbecue included which is great and I been saving BBQ recipes on Pinterest for the last few weeks, I don't want to give in on that one!! (it's so easy to go n grab a pizza or a kebab when on holiday,) if it doesn't rain, the BBQ will be getting lit for sure 😃

There could be a tv in the wigwams because (along with lighting, power sockets, heating) like Mobiles, or Chalets they give the site owners a much longer season. There are also many Wigwams and camping pods around without the above.

It would have been made clear when booking what was available in the Wigwam, so you would be VERY unreasonable to ask them to take the tv down. They won't comply anyway, you knew what was there and the conditions when you booked. You're asking them to get someone in to unscrew, carry it, store it, carry it back, screw it back in blah blah blah. They would say - don't turn it on.

OR you could all agree some rules between you.

If you can cancel there are loads of camping and glamping places that don't include a TV, or elect point, or heating, or lights.

Yes Huldra, I see your point, I genuinely didn't realise there was one there, but I can see in facilities so it is advertised, I also do understand why and personally, any other time it wud be great!!! If it's not possible, then I will, as Sail said, put a cloth over it!!
