AIBU to say only psychopaths support fox hunting

the kind who would laugh at and enjoy watching kittens being set on fire (animal cruelty especially early in lifeis a marker for psychopathic tendencies)

Because it's just the same as that. Animal cruelty plain and simple.

Imagine a group of thugs chasing a terrified animal to give it a horrible death

Now imagine they are posh people on horseback

VILE

Theresa May makes me angrier every day. Disgusting excuse of a person.

I don't give a shit if you live in the country or anywhere in fact and foxes are a nuisance to you - kill them humanely if you must!

Totally agree. Ex Tory supporter.

I've always hated it

"British tradition" doesn't excuse it either

Fine you want to control the fox population. Why do it in a cruel manner, where the poor fox is chased down until it's too tired to run anymore and then torn apart by hounds?

Why?

Barbaric sport

Yanbu.

It's sickening in this day and age that some people still see it as an acceptable 'sport'

Report
JaxingJump · 10/05/2017 15:56

What, like the fox did to my chickens?

It's all barbaric though, I'll give you that.

A fox has to eat.

Humans have no need to watch an animal torn apart for fun.

YANBU.

Fox killing chickens is nature, people dressing up and charging around with guns and vicious dogs is not nature. It's vile. As OP said, desire to harm and kill animals is one of the early signs of a psychopath.

I do agree with you on this - i do not understand why its even back on the agenda so to speak - i bet that it is still going on in certain circles anyway ( vile human beings that they are). Leave the status quo and let them go and hunt each other ( with any luck) I just cannot believe they even want it debated again.

YANBU. Its beyond sickening.
Its animal cruelty of the most barbaric and twisted kind.
It should be a 10 year offence. To hurt and kill and innocent animal. Those foxes have just as much right to live as Theresa May, does.

My whole family hunts. (Rifle) Predominantly Dear, Duck, and Turkey with the occasional other critter that we find. Hunting provides 100% of our meat.

All animals are eaten/used, nothing is wasted. Including the skins.

Killing for the sake of killing is wrong.

I was brought up in a city and then married a country bumpkin. He shoots pheasants in winter. Both of us hate fox hunting. There is no fun or skill in chasing an animal terrified to its death. The worst part is when they manage to get underground and the hunt send their terriers in to rip it up. That's vile. It still goes on loads too, a hunt used to tack up and go from the road next to where I kept my horses. There was no scented rag for those hounds to chase.

I know people who live "properly" rurally and they have a very unsentimental view of foxes. So I don't entirely agree with your premise....but I'm not a supporter of hunting myself, if that makes sense?

The only thing I would change is ..." desire to harm and kill animals for pleasure is one of the early signs of a psychopath"

Report

Yanbu op.

I accept that the fox population may need to be controlled in certain areas where they have become a nuisance...but they should be killed humanely if necessary.

There's no excuse for chasing down and killing an animal purely for sport.

This is beyond vile. Who does that to a scared animal? Why is it not a crime to even discuss it, let alone making it a pledge? She has managed to swoop so low so quickly. "boy jobs and girl jobs"! Imagine a male politician using that word! Just imagine how all hell would have broken loose if it was Corbyn or Farron who had said that.
but this is strong and stable May from the 50s.

I have never understood why people would do this
Tradition is no excuse either. Keeping slaves was a tradition at one point.

I think it's a marker for violent psychopaths, yes, ones that go on to commit crimes and murder,

But they're few and far between,

Not all psychopaths are like this (the word psycho, psychosis has a bad rap from the media) many of them are very charming and great social camelions and manipulators.

I think I've missed the point, but yes, hunting in that way is cruel, it's not a great way to go,

I've never liked the hunting displays at country shows because they appeal to the public by saying "if we outlaw hunting we would have to put all the fox hounds down as they can't live in homes"

Well maybe don't breeds hundreds of them then???

Not solely the reserve of psychopaths but it is horrific & I can't understand why anyone would support it. There's a petition going - www.change.org/p/theresa-may-mp-keep-the-ban-on-fox-hunting-f3b34518-e964-4bb6-93e9-cc8a21496112?utm_source=action_alert_sign&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=746672&alert_id=ZyKgPydSwk_8y3sfXxr2i7WLhQ8wQgysyb75eSmqoYZLekVj%2BOFdvQ%3D

Jump, I'm sorry about your chickens, but wild animals need to eat. With humans absolutely everywhere, it is inevitable that a hunting animal will try and take what 'we own'.

There's no reason for fox hunting. It's sick, anyone who does it is sick. No different from game hunters in Africa, vile humans the lot of them. Anyone caught in blood sport should be severely punished and restricted from all other animals (horses and dogs) and guns.

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that Theresa May wants to bring it back. The woman can't treat other humans decently, the poor and underprivileged are suffering because of her and her government. Why would she think any more of innocent creatures who can't defend themselves?

The ban on fox hunting should stay - its brutal and doesn't actually decrease the numbers significantly. Farmers should continue to shoot them if bothering live stock etc.

However I think there should be a ban on saboteurs - my parents live in a rural area and I have seen children dragged off horses by sabs, punched and kicked etc, horses being spooked by flares etc. These people are thugs not the caring, animal welfare loving saviours they purport to be!!

Report
SuffolkBumkin · 10/05/2017 16:09

So are factory farms, but it's more acceptable to pay someone else to kill them. Hmm

Shitting dead animals out your arse is just as barbaric, but that's OK as it's 'normal'

I'm not sure if you're trying to say that all hunters are psychopaths?

I agree with fox hunting is cruel, however other types of hunting is not.

Why do people always use the 'foxes kill chickens' line?

Dogs can kill cats
Cats can kill mice/birds so should we organise a hunt killing cats and dogs?

Shock
It's honestly rather unsettling to see someone comparing the barbarism of fox hunting to eating animals for food.
