I stood in the entrance of M&S for 5 minutes this morning just trying to imagine anyone who this would suit.
It's polyester as well so you couldn't even say it would be good in a heatwave.

Yes someone posted that the other day, it is indeed a fancy dress type of surprise 😂

That dress surprisingly looks good on.

I hate the mustard yellow halter dress at Hobbs. Looks cheap

OMG I remember seeing similar nightdresses in the 70s.

sorry didn't realise it had already been posted on.
It would look truly dreadful on me.

I just saw this in M&S and my mind was boggled. It's so bright and so polyester!

Oh that's interesting - someone I know had a Harvey Nicks stylist appointment and came back with a pic of an almost identical but v expensive dress that the stylist had tried to persuade her into. Hideous. Stella McCartney, it might have been?

Christ, if you designed a dress which would flatter no body shape whatsoever I imagine that's what you'd come up with.

The colour is genius.

It would be so, so unflattering on anyone above a size 10. The poor model is hardly pulling it off. Horrid.

I just had a little bet with myself that it would be this dress - like you I stood in the doorway of M&S with my jaw dropping. I know they're bad but this is just awful

It's not even flattering on a small size. I'd love to know whether they've actually managed to sell any.

Oh god i can't stop looking at it and laughing.

Trouble is now I'll get it frequently in my sidebar so I'll have to keep seeing it.

It's very Melania Trump Grin

I'm sure I owned that dress (made by my mum) in the late 1970s for children's parties!

Report
MoonriseKingdom · 02/05/2017 13:28

Maybe part of the problem is the model is quite model shaped. Maybe would look better on someone a bit curvier?

Report
Jayfee · 02/05/2017 13:29

i also thought of abigails party!

Iamastonished · 02/05/2017 13:30

If it had been a long dress it could have been a bridesmaid's dress from the early 1970s.

It is truly vile.

There's some truly horrid fashion just now in general. I'm trying to buy my holiday wardrobe and can barely find anything I actually like.

LapCatLicker · 02/05/2017 13:32

It makes that young, slim and beautiful model look old and frumpy. I can't imagine what it would to on my 41 year old mum bod! You win, it is a horror.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 02/05/2017 13:32

I saw this dress on my way into M&S last week.
My mind was boggled.
Thankfully I headed off to what they're actually good at - school uniform and comfy underwear - and left the funny fashion behind.

It does remind me of the long dresses that girls wore to birthday parties in the 70s - I had a couple of horrors! Grin

When a dress makes the model look dumpy then you know it's a bad un'!

I'm sure my sisters and I had nighties like that in the late 70's/early 80's.

One in blue, one in yellow & one in pink.

I KNEW it would be this dress before i even clicked on the thread and read the bit about it being in M&S ! Grin

I did a serious double take as i walked past it in there on Saturday. It's even brighter in real life than the pic looks. Argh.
