AIBU?

To be pissed off at my friend

I text her a couple of weeks ago asking about meeting up (live in different towns) and we said we'd go and get our nails done together sometime in the next few weeks.

I've just looked on Instagram and seen she's uploaded a picture of her new nails which she's had done, I commented "Oh I thought we were going to get them done together", and she replied "We never arranged a date and you do things and don't invite me" Hmm

I know she's getting at the fact I've been meeting with a few new friends and no I haven't invited her. But really?

You never arranged a date so I don't think there's anything to be pissed off about really.

Sometime in the next few weeks?
Maybe she thought you could go together next time? Hmm

Actually op. If I were her I would have thought "My nails need doing. Alice and I discussed having ours done together soon. I will send her a quick text to see if it is convenient".

I know it's only nails but if you discussed it then I can see why you might feel peeved. But the bigger issue is that she sounds annoyed that you have been out with others and not invited her. You have every right to meet new friends and not invite old ones but do you think she might be a bit isolated and feeling pushed out because of this?

They'll need doing again in two weeks, YABU.

so she can never get her nails done until the "sometime" you two have vaguely mentioned going together? sod that OP!

You're an idiot if you put things on hold for vague unconfirmed plans.

If you hadn't have got shirty about this you could have still had your nails together trip! Nails don't last that long and you coulda just firmly arranged it for a few weeks time when hers are due to be re-done.. not much point now that you've sucked the joy out of it though

I think it's unclear whether the friend is peeved, or whether she's simply pointing out that you don't live in each others pockets an you're both free to do things as and when you please without checking in

I see where you're coming from OP but you will get told YABU by most on here.

It would have been nice of her to say and ask you along but as no solid plan was put in place I think I would have let it go.

I think her comment is very telling about how she's feeling about your friendship.
