To ask about the pill and being sick

Apologies in advance as I'm really not well --thanks, god mums toddler for infecting me with your nasties-

I've read my little instruction booklet with the pill and googled it and am probably just being dense.
But don't know if I need to be worried or not!

I took my pill (cerazette) at 11, woke up being sick at around 2am and have been sick since then. I know I'm not protected now, that's not a worry as I'm not exactly feeling like sex right now. But I had sex earlier in the day and typically although we do usually use condoms as well to be sure, we didn't yesterday.

Apologies again if it's a really stupid question, but I've read and read and can't figure out if I could get pregnant or not.

My boyfriend says to forget about it and we'll look into it when I'm feeling better, which I know makes sense as I can't do anything about it right now.
But I'm trying to sleep and can't stop thinking about it.
We both definitely don't want another baby right now!!

I would get some emergency contraception. if you definitely don't want a baby!

Sperm can survive in your fallopian tubes for up to a week (!) So if you might ovulate due to hormone drop, you could take the emergency contraceptive pill from a pharmacy, or I think have a coil fitted

I will do Great but I can't take it yet, I'm still being sick. Just tried taking some paracetamol as my heads pounding and threw them up.
Obviously can't know how long this will last, so wondered if I should be really worried or just a little worried!

Though if you can't get to a pharmacy and might puke it up the 'morning after' pill anyway... Not sure Confused

I'd try and get sorted as soon as you can keep stuff down. The EllaOne can be taken within 5 days x

PastysPrincess · 30/04/2017 13:28

Found this online.

You only have an issue if you vomited within 2 hours so you should be ok as you vomited after 3 hours.

However, to be on the safe side I would get emergency contraception.

I assume you mean 11pm? I don't know about cerazette specifically, but with the pill I am on you would still be protected as long as you took a pill (on time) on the seven previous days. So if you are in the first week of the pack and just finished your break then you are not protected and would need emergency contraception.

Thanks PeaFaceMcgee don't think I can take Ella one as I'm breastfeeding. Think the others most effective within 24 hours, but is it 24 hours from having sex or being sick?

I know, that's what it said Pastys I'm not overly convinced though, I got pregnant on the implant with my daughter and my gp said it was the most effective contraception.

I'm just never having sex again!!

It's the mini pill Spuriouser so no break. It just says if I can't take another pill within 12 hours to use other protection for two days, doesn't say if it's ok if you had sex before being sick.

Ah, in that case I don't know. I reckon your best bet is to go to speak to a pharmacist as soon as you are able to be up and about. They will be able to advise on whether you are at risk of pregnancy, and about whether you can take the morning after pill while breastfeeding or not.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Emboo19 · 30/04/2017 16:38

Thanks Spuriouser I hate been sick! Think it's worse as I'm still feeding dd.

I've managed to get the pharmacy though, looking a absolute state, but who cares.

The pharmacist wasn't sure himself, he's given me the levonelle pill, and says to take it as soon as I stop being sick.
Apparently works best if taken within 12 hours but can take it up to three days later.

I know it's irrational and mostly because I'm unwell, but I'm so angry at my boyfriend for not using a condom.

You can also get the copper coil fitted as emergency contraception I don't know if that's an option in your case?

Definitely can't yak that up!
