Admittedly I know that I am overweight and am in the painful throes of doing something about it but bloody hell??! Anthony Joshua is the world heavyweight boxing champion (I wouldn't have known this until I read it in a paper today). He is 6ft (that's SIX FOOT) 6, weighs 17 stone 7 and consumes 4,500-5000 calories a day when in training.

I'm 5ft 4 and weigh 13st 2. It's fat, I know, and I know the waist to height ratio is in some ways MORE worrying than the weight itself as a predictor of diabetes etc.and hardly any of my 'girth' is muscle, and I'm a woman and we're different etc. etc. But my waist is 2 inches bigger than this 'man-mountain'.

I need to get myself down the nearest Boxing gym!

What is his waist measurement?

Goprogo · 29/04/2017 11:49

I doubt he could put on a pair of skinny jeans with his sort of thighs, if that helps Grin

Me neither Grin

I remember finding out that Beyonce's bum was 2 inches smaller than mine!

Yeah 36 inches at your height is pretty unhealthy. But if you follow his regimine to build muscle you could probably whittle it down. Boxers do a lot of cardio and weights, and those 4500 cal dinners are probably mostly grilled tuna or chicken.

I'm always shocked when some of the lighter boxers only weigh 10-11 stone.

That's muscular adult men that weigh less than me and I'm not particularly overweight. My waist is far smaller than Anthony Joshua's though, so I'm OK on that front.

If this is the new standard of measurement I'm going back to using hands and roods.

BarbaraofSeville · 29/04/2017 12:33

You're OK with hands. They had one of the boxers hands in the newspapers on breakfast TV and they were all comparing and the boxer's hands were literally shovels in comparison.
