To let 7 year old watch ghostbusters (the new one)

DD announced today that only men are scientists and she knows it's true because all the movies have men scientists.
This is horrible because scientist was on her list of things she wanted to be when she grew up since she was was 4 and now she has this 'oh I was so silly when I was younger' attitude about it that makes me want to build her an under volcano lab and just SHOW her.
I rambled on for a bit about bias in Hollywood but she lost interest - I need something to punch this home before she internalises this much more.
I want to show her ghostbusters because I loved it but I'm worried it's a bit too old (fine with original one, watched several Star Wars movies, Indiana jones)
Any other suggestions?
Tv shows, docco's (I'm thinking gorillas in the mist), books (our book shelf is practically a homage to the mighty girl website - Ada twist scientist, rosy revere engineer, totoro, but I've obviously taken my eye off the ball ). Graphic novels??

the original ghostbusters is shocking and inwouldnt let a Child watch it. It is incredibly sexist. One of them ppera to get. Bj from a ghost at one point!

My 11 and 6 year old both watched it. It was fine and nowhere near as scary as they'd hoped.

It's not too scary, mine enjoyed it. We watched it again at home it's not as good as the originals. I must have missed that rude bit C0unt

It's not too scary, my 5 year old loved it. She was too scared of Finding Dory though, we had to turn it off!

There's a kids show called project mc2 on Netflix about girls that love science.

I agree duckula- I was shocked at how bad some of it was. I thought it wouldn't affect her too much but it seems it has.
I think I'll have to pass on showing her the rest of my childhood favourites.
I'd much prefer she watch the new one as long as it's not going to traumatise her.

Jurassic park (original one had female paleontologist) and good way to bring up Mary Anning . Hidden Figures (might be a touch old for her) but based on true story. Firefly/star trek series. Also Horrible Histories might be worth a shot.

But also look at taking her to any local science museums and checking out local stem groups and encourage her to code (inventor of computer programming was female). Buy Lego and construction toys. Whereabouts in the country are you?

She doesn't like Lego just. She has some spacial awareness issues that seem to make Lego and even jigsaws really hard for her (can't even line up the straight edges). I can just about get her to do a Star Wars one then she refuses to ever touch it again.

I have got her onto minecraft tho and there's a kids gaming club on tomorrow that we're going too (asd kids).

We do have tons of science sets as she's always loved that. Star Trek of course! I'll get her on to a bit of Janeway and seven of nine.

We've started watching ghostbusters now!! She's super impressed, and says she believes me now. i think I've got her back on side. She's willing them to be better than the 'men ghostbusters'.

Because she's so literal I have to be very careful how things are presented.

I'm a coder by trade myself, I've fudged my job title slightly and now told her I'm a computer scientist - so that's helped too.
Honestly the house is swimming in pro girls doing STEM and adventure stuff.

It's just I hadn't realised the impact the movies she was watching were having and how she had explicitly picked up the 'all scientists are men' message from that.
