AIBU?

I've messed up my Tesco shop again

I've just received my Tesco shop. I had ordered a few bottles of wine and prosecco (we are having people over). However, I also seem to have ordered two litre bottles of sherry. I have no idea how I managed it - none of us drink sherry. I could see the point if I had had a drink when I did the shop but no, I was stone cold sober. This isn't the first time I've cocked up my shop. One time I ended up with 8 bags of apples instead of 8 apples, 7 bags of bananas. I also somehow ended up with 9 packets of Kitkats. AIBU in thinking I should just give this up as a bad joke? What what can I do with two litre bottles of sherry? All suggestions welcomed.

Delia's mushroom risotto uses sherry - it's very nice.

Make enormous trifles?

I sympathise. I once ordered 11 bottles of golden syrup by accident. The food bank was glad to have them by of course you can't give them sherry. If there's a care home for older people near you, the residents might appreciate it?

I once ordered 200 jars of red jalapenos instead of 2.

fortunately when the order arrived, they "only" had 20 in stock.... Blush

can't you take them back to Tesco with a receipt if they are clearly unopened?

No suggestions bar keep them till christmas.
But you are allowed to return items to the driver for a full refund...i would have done that 😕

Do you need to get your children into a religious school? Vicars stereotypically like sherry, don't they?

Yes, you can give the stuff back to the driver, and they'll refund it.

I've done the 'accidentally ordered 10kg of bananas instead of 10 bananas' thing.

No idea what to do with the sherry but you are not alone, i remember the year my mums xmas shop was delivered and she had ordered 1 sprout instead of 1 bag of sprouts!

There's a great Delia recipe for chicken cooked in sherry.

I once ordered 1 item of each vegetable on my list instead of 1kg of each. It made for a very sad Sunday lunch Grin

Tesco will take it back if you go in store.

I once ordered three leeks. They were out of unpacked leeks so sent me three packs of three leeks. But then someone obviously had a brain fart and thought 'oh, she needs three packs of leeks here' and sent me another three packs of three leeks.

That's a lot of leeks.

I once ordered 9 bottles of fish sauce too.

Is it on your receipt? I did chinese pork with sherry that was all right.

You can use sherry in 5 spice chicken . . .admittedly you would need to make a massive amount to use all 2 litres Grin

You probably added random bottles of alcohol as a place saver to get you over £40 and then forgot to take them off!

I never get why not a single soul at tescos doesn't ponder why anyone might want 200 jars of jalpenos, or 8 bags of apples or conversely a single sprout and a 15lb turkey

and let's face it a quick call/text or email wouldn't kill them would it?

Use it in paella! Or give it as gifts?

Purely because I did something rather similar and ended up with 2 kgs of kippers over Easter instead of 2 (luckily they freeze) Blush....
(one of the many kipper recipes I found was to pop one in a frying pan, cover it with whisky and set fire to it - DH didn't fancy that for breakfast).....
How about flambéing it over some oranges/bananas/pineapple? Or maybe some fruity/boozy ice lollies?

Might it add a certain something to a spag bol?

I've ordered things from Tesco online before, seeing them in my basket as I'm checking out.. when the delivery arrives they haven't arrived and there's no sign of those groceries on the shopping receipt!? Not even on the list saying unavailable, or substitutions.
I'm either losing it, or Tesco online are.. my guess is I am Confused

Have you definitely been charged for it?
We occasionally get extra things in our order that we haven't ordered and haven't been charged for.

Sherry is nice.

Chill it, and get yourself some salted almonds and green olives to go with.
