AIBU?

Bikini that my bum doesn't fall out of... is there such a thing??

I'm large of bottom but slim everywhere else. I want a bikini that doesn't reveal half my bum cheeks!

I've got a pair of skimpy tanktini shorts but they ride up and look like hot pants Blush Also they give no lift or support.

Where can I get a pair of bikini shorts that hold my bottom in and give a nice shape? Tummy area is fine and I prefer a low rise waistband that sits on hips. There are hundreds of styles for tummy control but can't find anything for bum control! Do I just have a weird shape?

You need to copy whatever the Kardashians are wearing as your body shape sounds like them!

Low rise boyshorts. Plenty about.

If you look at somewhere like Figleaves - you can buy separate tops and bottoms in different sizes and styles. So you can match up your top with your choice of pants shape.

I am pear shaped and I buy my bottoms in a larger size - so both elements fit me and it looks much neater.

Other companies also do separates I'm sure I've used another one as well - but have forgotten the name - it might come back to me !

I go for traditional pants shape (I find shorts draw attention to my bum) - with a fold down top - which shows off your waist.

I think copying the kardashians would not solve the OPs problems as they aim to have their bums/boobs hanging out! Or was that sarcasm? I never know

You can usually get bikinis as separates now, so if they are a tie side style get a much bigger size in the bottoms than you would usually chose and just tie them tighter around your hips, that way there will be more bum coverage but still fit on the hips as they should. I think most bikinis are cut to show a lot of bum cheek now as it is trendy, but I agree that it looks horrendously unflattering on most, often appears that the bum is eating the bikini. Avoid styles cut high on the leg as they tend to contribute to the disappearing bikini trick.

I know you said you want a low rise waist on the bikini, but high waisted styles almost always have suitable bum coverage, I think they can look quite chic rather than looking like you are just trying to cover up.

KurriKurri which brand? I'd be interested to know.

Boylegshorts by Seafolly might have enough cloth of good enough quality to cover properly. These are a completely different cut from generally available bikini shorts. www.surfdome.com/seafolly_bikini_bottoms_-seafolly_goddess_roll_top_boyleg_bikini_bottom-indigo-157278?$ja=tsid:%7ccid:416535672%7cagid:

I've remembered now - it is Land's End. I actually bought mine in the States but the have it in UK too. I got them to measure me (Because they gave you a free goody bag if you got measured !)

They do mix and match - so you can get different styles of tops and bottoms, and you could get say a plain blue pants with a striped or floral top.

I got navy pants - in the sort of 'full pants' style, and a spotted tankini top (that was a couple of years ago) And I got a matching bra type top as well to use with same pants.

They do all sorts - they have a sort of swim dress top with separate pants if you want to be a bit more covered up. Or skirted pants (I've got some of those too from a different shop - they are quite flattering)

Tummy control doesn't work, just looks like a stuffed sausage, so I can't see bum control working either. Just get a pair that fit. Knickers aren't really a good look on adult women, whatever their shape. Boardies much better and more practical.

THank you Kurri. I know Landsend uses enough cloth in their cuts too, so that makes sense.

Most swimming costumes are a nightmare for even the slimmest bottomed person in my opinion.

Bravissimo new catalogue plonked on to my doormat yesterday. They have a number of gorgeous 50s style full brief bikinis this season.

Sometimes the bottoms thats tie at the side are better because you can adjust to fit your bum. Nothing worse than them digging in.

I'll have a look at Lands End and Bravissimo, thanks

Seafolly boyshorts style are too skimpy on me- my bum cheeks fall out the back! I've got a similar pair and end up tugging them down all the time or giving people an eyeful when bending over to help toddler Blush

Under jeans I wear bum-lift shapewear shorts which are great. They lift up and compress a bit like a good minimiser bra!

All the sporty compression swim shorts are for men.

If I go for high waist they don't stay up and the elastic leg cuts across my bum. I'm 12 hips and 8 waist, but even a 14 doesn't give full bottom coverage so probably a 16 on bum?

It's so frustrating! You can buy every type of minimiser/uplift/padded/hidden support bikini top but hardly any supportive bottoms!

Swimsuit rather than bikini?

I used to wear tie-side when I was younger (and toned!) but need more coverage now. Unless they do tie-side shorts?

Swimsuits never fit as I have a long waist and big difference between bust-hip measurement

Boy shorts are unflattering for pears. I have a slight pear shape and they just accentuate my bum. As this link shows.

No difference! Same as brown stripes on cheeks don't create cheekbones, different shape knickers don't make legs look any different.

Standing differently and smiling does greatly improve looks. Normal technique for selling stuff.

Giddyaunt18 To be fair, if that was your actual body shape you'd probably look great in a g-string too!

I am slim with a big bum. I think the most flattering bikini pant is a low rise cut around the bum cheeks, that offers good coverage and stays put. Shorts are an absolute no for me, completely the wrong shape. I refuse to wear anything that needs rearranging every five minutes!

Last year I bought a great cheap bikini from M&S, it was neon pink with a white tropical print and didn't look M&S! I also bought a black bikini by Shan which was super flattering on the bum, cost about £200.
