To think newspapers could at least try and find their own stories and not literally cut and paste direct from mumsnet?!

The sun are at it now

Slow news day!

I cant see the link, what story is it

Awwlookatmybabyspider Thu 27-Apr-17 11:34:27

There's clearly nothing else going on in the world

Msqueen33 Thu 27-Apr-17 11:38:59

It's about someone who got an invite to a friends party and they wanted to charge £20 to get in.

Honestly have they nothing better to do.

WorraLiberty Thu 27-Apr-17 11:42:25

Meh. They need to fill up their little subsections with something.

No different to a Take a Break type thing really.

cafenoirbiscuit Thu 27-Apr-17 11:43:06

Let's make up a scurrilous story!

I wonder whether some of the threads they report on they've actually started themselves. If you can't find anything interesting to report on, why not make it up...

HappyFlappy Thu 27-Apr-17 11:47:42

That's uninteresting idea Overthehill. It would explain some of the very suspicious threads that are about - and it's awful, because there are people out there who really need support in some areas of their lives whose threads may be missed because of some lazy journalistic troll.

Mumsnet HQ clearly endorse the publicity!hmm

Sparklingbrook Thu 27-Apr-17 12:03:41

It's always been the way. If you don't want it in the paper don't post it on the internet. Simple.

The more threads that appear in the press the more clicks MN gets and the advertisers on MN like that. MN is a business.

FritzDonovan Thu 27-Apr-17 12:14:52

I never recognise the threads that make it to the papers! I'm obviously not reading the right ones. Would love to know the top reported threads grin

Sparklingbrook Thu 27-Apr-17 12:18:21

Mostly ones that make Mumsnetters look like a weird bunch. Bizarre situations that are probably made up. That sort of stuff.

WorraLiberty Thu 27-Apr-17 12:24:00

They're a clever bunch though.

They know when they do this, their readers are likely to do what the OP has done and link to it on the thread, thus giving them more hits and earning more advertising revenue.

Win-win really.

Sparklingbrook Thu 27-Apr-17 12:33:51

V true. Plus loads of threads are posted on the MN FB page which is much the same really.
