So..DH went out this morning at 6.40am. Didn't say where he was going. DS aged 4 comes into our room which we share with our 8 month DD, saying he'd heard daddy's car and where was he. I said I didn't know...I'll check my phone in case there's a work emergency (he owns his own business) or gone to see his DD who lives 20 minutes away for breakfast, which occasionally happens. No text, no message saying where he is. So I carry on with kids, and he pitches up all happy. Swimming.
For context...he's doing an ironman soon, so is training for that. He is doing it with my blessing...I have zero issue with training even though it does mean he's not about much on the weekends and if he's not training he's either tired or unwell 😶.

My issue was the total lack of any clues or comms. He did similar on Easter Sunday while we were away. We were going out for a drive and lunch and the only inkling I had of his plans were my deduction he was going for a run when he brought a bag of kit downstairs. I assumed....correctly...that he planned to run part of the way back. Again, no issue, but no fricking comms about it. At all.

Is this lacking in common courtesy?

Omit him from a few meal times as you weren't sure he would be around. .

Grin at the typo

Really odd that he doesn't tell you ! Just normal courtesy in a couple, especially when you have young children. This has alarm bells ringing for me, are you sure he is training ....?

Was he trying to get up early and get it out the way without disturbing you too much? I used to do that for marathon training, 6 am I would throw my running gear on and go.

Huldra it's to fit it in with swim times at pool and free up time in evening to do second session...all fine. We had no idea where he was. Didn't give any indication he was planning on it. It's not the norm at the moment so I wasn't expecting it - and would hope he would say oh am swimming in the morning just for info) although he did it when DS was tiny and it was so so hard....I'd be up all effing night and couldn't ask for a snooze as he was going out. Anyway, another story. It was the total lack of any info.

Not being unreasonable at all (though I'm another one who clicked on the thread just to figure out what the title meant).

Yeah, that is bad. I would at least say something.
